He is trained in all other aspects of obedience, but he still get a thrill from chewing on expensive, permanent, household things. I can't cover it up from my husband for to much longer. Any ideas?

My golden is 10months old and has been shedding for about a month now, and I was wondering how long this is going to take. I am amazed at the amount of hair that comes off her each day? Does brushing help? With or against the grain of her coat? How long can I expect her to be shedding for?

I just got back from vacation and I'm pretty sure my little one has kennel cough or some sort of cold?! He's been more lethargic than usual (he's 4 1/2 mos and not running around like usual)...we picked him up at the kennel (a very very good one) on Sat. and since then he's been sneezing a ton, and dry hacking...seems to be the correct symptoms?! He's had all his vaccinations, including bordetella (but I know this is somewhat like the flu shot...not always preventative). I'm going to call the vet and take him in, but wondering if anyone has come in contact with this?? Anything I can do to help my pup to ease him till the vet?

i recenty received a pug from a local breeder in my area as a present from my wife, and he pug is registered with the ACA. i have never heard of this before and i am a skeptic of its legitimacy. i went to the website and its poorly put together. i cant get to any links except the ones that are forms to give them money. my wife spent quite a bit of money on our dog, and as a previous pug owner i feel as if the dog is inadequate to a pugs features. my question here is, what is the ACA all about and can i get my dog registered in the AKC?

Ok, so back in December my dog had some skin problems and I took him to the vet. He put him on an antibiotic and gave him a shot of cortisone. It cleared up the skin problem but now I have another problem. He seems to be losing weight and I'm not sure why. I can feel most of his bones which I could not do before. I mean, he was chubby before this treatment. Even on a second visit they said he only lost two pounds. Anybody else have this experience with their dog? He seems to be acting fine and not having any other problems. Could he have picked up something at the vet? One friend said to check into a tapeworm.

We are currently crate training our puppy and every now and then he has an accident. Because the space is confined, he gets in his droppings and smells horrible. How often can he be bathed during the week without drying out his skin?

A year ago last Oct. our son bought a Chihuahua puppy which was 8 weeks old. She is healthy and fully grown at 3 lbs or less and approx. 9" in length. Our son wants to breed her but his mother and I think she is too small and it could be dangerous. She is coming into heat for the third time since we got her. This dog is not the runt of the litter and is a beautiful small dog. Her two brothers are much larger than she is the one (runt) being approx 9 lbs and the other 12 lbs. Our son said his vet told him she could have pups but he is so attached to her I am worried if he did breed her and she died!

I have a female papillon, coming up on 4months old. For I guess the last week or so she's has a red, flakey rash on the lower part of her stumoch just before her vulva. I mentioned it when at the vet getting her final vaccines *i think* and she took a look, commented that her vulva was large for such a small dog, and didn't seem too concerned. I put it out of my mind while we got to discussing house training and never really got the chance to bring it back up. I'm just sort of wondering what it might be and if there's anything I could do for her, because she deffinantly appears to be itchy *you know, licking and chewing lightly on the area*

Like I said, we've been to the vet, who didn't seem too concerned. I'd just like to know.

i will stand outside with him for ages but he will keep his pee in until he gets in the house and then do it right in front of me, he was suppose to be neutered at 6 months but only one testicle has dropped so the vet says i will have to wait until the other has dropped or at least for a few months yet, is this a dominate thing he is doing? he gets plenty of exercise, two half hour walks in the woods each day, getting really frustrated with this, can anyone help

My dog [Akita, Pure Blood, Alpha Male] uses his paws alot, jumps on people and his nails hurt alot. and once, this cat wanted to fight with him, so my dog didnt really care, he was just staring at the cat like it was just another person, because my pup is friendly he doesn't attack for fun. So he wanted to play and then the cat scratched his face, so instead of barking, or trying to bite the cat, he just used his paw and smashed the cats head on the ground, like if he wanted to kill a fly...and the thing is, lets say I throw a bone at him, like a big one, instead of trying to catch it with his mouth, he first jumps or tries to catch the bone with his paws and then he bites.

Is a Malinois the same or related to a German Shepherd? I've compared pictures of the two, and the only differences I see is the slope in the GSD's back and the darker color. Any clues? Did they start off from the same blood line?

I have a male Chihuahua and I am having him neutered on Thursday. I am nervous to have him put under, and he also has to have a tooth pulled. I am scared since the last time he had shots his neck swelled and had to go to the vet for a shot. We take excellent care of Hercules and he is truly pampered and the love of my life. I don't want anything bad to happen to him but since he is "marking" everything in sight the vet suggested that we go ahead...what do you think and what are the risks?

Hercules is a 4.8 pound Toy Applehead Chihuahua ~ black/tan I have pictures on my 360 if ya wanna see...

We almost think he's constipated and he's been going outside and laying in the snow...he's listness and doesn't want to move much. He hasn't eaten anything out of the ordinary and is fine for a few days and then this starts happening again. We've tried giving him human constipation pills and they've seemed to help before...he's also been drinking a lot of water....
