Call the animal hospital for advice over the phone. They will tell you what to do. As long as your dog is coughing he is not choking, he does have something stuck though. Try not to feed him dry food until the vet check cause it may block the air way completly then he may start to choke. Water help losen the blockage.

If you live in a city usually the aspca has a vet that will see your dog at no cost or low cost and allow you to make payments. If you can't afford dog hospital bills you shouldn't have a dog in your care. That is the truth. What if he doesn't make it till Monday? Call a vet and try to make some financial arrangements Maybe they will let you post date a check/ you took this animal in and he can't take care of himself.

I am a vet. If your dog continues to vomit, gag, retch, etc, you NEED to get him to a vet. If he has a gastric or intestinal obstruction, he will be dead by Monday when you have funds. Call your vet, explain the situation, and tell them that you get paid Monday and would be willing to write them a check and have them hold it until Monday, or see if they would be willing to do a payment plan, etc. If they say no, call another vet! Your dog could be in danger. If your dog stops coughing/hacking/gagging/vomiting and goes back to acting normal, eating, drinking, etc, then you can hold off.

You cannot wait until Monday to get your dog to a vet. Call them and explain the situation and ask if they will take payments ,credit card or a post dated check.

If money is an issue, please do not own pets. He might die because you don't have funds.
