I have a Pembroke Welsh Corgi, and a Shih Poo (shih tzu/poodle). Also I have and orange tree in my backyard. Each Spring and Fall, the oranges drop from the trees, and I make orange juice and sell them. Sometimes when I am at work, the oranges drop, and the dogs eat them. I know you should never give a dog ANY people food, but I cant control when and where the oranges drop.

My main point is, will the pits or the orange peels make my dogs sick?

Sometimes as many as 50 a day drop, (according to my neighor) and when I get home, there is only like 30. If it is okay for them to eat oranges how many should be the limit to where they will get sick if they eat any more.

I dont have the choice to keep them inside because their my mother's. (i am not a kid) She is a neat FREAK! and cant stand for them to be inside.

Sorry about the long question, but this really important to know!

He is a 4 year old jack russel/shitzu. He's usually a ball of energy. But in the past two weeks his energy levels have dipped. He's also had a decrease in appetite completely. With the winter he has gotten a little less exercise then normal as it's harder for him to get around outside (the snow goes over his head) and despite our best efforts he is not much of a winter dog. We're worried about his fatigue and loss of appetite. Help!

Our puppy is 5 months old. We have taken him for his shots, heartworm treatments, etc. I plan to have him "fixed" as soon as he's old enough. I was suprised to find out though that the vet I picked does not condone spaying and neutering. He told me he does them, but doesn't agree with them. I am planning to switch vets because, frankly, I think that's weird. I was wondering if this is a common feeling among vetrinarians or if I'm right to think it's strange.

I read online that if your dog is scooting their rump on the floor, chasing their tail, and licking their rear...that they more than likely need their glands squeezed to get rid of puss inside their rectum. My year and a half old cocker spaniel, Francesca has been exhibiting these behaviors. Is this a serious problem? My vet is out of town for the next three weeks and I need to know whether I should rush her in somewhere else. Also, do dogs that have this problem need to be taken in to have their glands squeezed for the rest of their lives? Or is this a one time thing? If it's something that will more than likely reoccur, how often should I take her in?

My 8 week old pup loves to play. The problem is whenever my senior dog (13 year old hound) is around she jumps on his back, tries to bite on his ear, sniffs aound. Well he barks to say leave me alone to her. I am tired of him getting yelled at and really him to get along with the pup. Does anyone know a way to solve this?

I just bought a pomaranian puppy and have a 3 year old chiuahaha. I have never locked up my chihaha but would like to lock them both up in the kitchen throughout the day with eachother. This way there are no accidents (the chihaha is yet to be fully potty trained) and so they can get to know eachother. Is this ok? Also, is it bad to change things for the chihaha becuase he has never been locked up before? Will he think he is being punished and turn mean?

Its a jack Russel 8 year old. He wants me to throw his ball all the time. When I refuse to, he forces the ball as close to me as possible then stares. After a few minutes he starts shaking like a crazy dog. Is this normal for Jack Russels?

Also when he goes out he is always pulling on the lead to the left. Its hard work to walk him.

He licks shadows on walls...is this normal?

I know that is one of the traits of this breed, but she is 8 months old and is getting worse. She was, I think, well socialized as a puppy, untill it got too cold she went everywhere (that we could take her) with us, but now she would rather growl and snap at visiters than anything, esp if I leave the room. Doesn't matter if it is children or adults, and she really hates men. My hubby doesn't have much to do with her, he is not an animal person, but he has never been mean to her or even raised his voice to her. Any suggestions on how to socialize her or is it too late and she is just going to be anti social. BTW she is fine around all of my kids, she LOVES my youngest, my 4 year old, they are buddies and she gets along great with my Boston/Pug, but the Chihuahua is the dominate one. I don't want her to hate and be mean to people that visit my home.

I think Beagles are. Do you guys have any other dog breeds that seem like the easiest dog breed to look after?

(I prefer it if it is a small dog.)

First let's mention that I WILL go get the puppy/dog when the time comes, which could be years in the future. I plan to do this for show one day, and I am fairly aware that it will be a fair investment *in the sense of my wallet will be badly bruised* but I don't really know how much it would cost in the end, and I'd like to at least know how much money I need saved up. For this, considering the time between now and when I'll even be ready, thousands shouldn't be a huge issue.

Specifically what I want to at least show *need to get into that, though. attending my first next month i think* is a phalene papillon, and I haven't found any breeders adopting out with full registrasion in the US. As far as I know, to compete in conformation the dog needs to be intact. Breeding's not at the top of my mind, not by any means, but one day it may be nice. Years to go, experience needed.

I'd like as MUCH information about this as you can offer. Keep in mind, it's going to be at least two years

I am having my 1 year old sharpei neutered this Friday. I am a little nervous, because I have heard stories about dogs bloating up and dying after anesthesia. What are the risks of this happening. I want the best of health for him.

Hi,
My 10 month old jack russell puppy will always run under the bed when she steals something just enough so know one can reach her. She is in her third level of obedience school (advanced level). However, like a typical jack russell she is very stubborn and often only does things when she wants. I don't want to give her a treat so she comes out from under the bed because it is just encouraging her to do it again. However, if I don't act fast, she will end up chewing something valuable. She understands leave it, other basic commands, etc. but obviously doesnt care to listen when she has something she really shouldn't! She has plenty of attention all day so it's not like I'm not giving her enough exercise. As much as she loves her own toys, they do not always work as a way for her to come out. She is a great dog and I have never had any problems as far as her causing any destruction in the house when I'm home or when she is left alone. Any suggestions?

it became worst since he came back from grooming 1 week ago..brought him to new groomer who recommended crew cut due to his skin prob..thought it maybe better for him, hence agreed to it. however, when he's back, my poor dog became very withdrawn n fierce - he just bited at anyone who went near him! now he's better, just that we noticed some sores on his hind leg n his excessive nibbling worried us. hence we are thinking of bringing him to vet..but we worried he may become withdrawn after the vet visit....any advise?

I used to love visiting them, but they have a large white german shepherd and now a small chi/pom type dog. They are the worst behaved animals! I love dogs, I love all animals, I have many myself, but my animals don't bother people. And to make sure they don't, when we have company, I put my dogs in another room. I realize that even though I love them, not everyone has to.
But they let their little dog literally climb all over you. 2 weeks ago, I was wearing a brand new coat, and this little thing was literally clawing its way up my back as I sat in the chair..the in-laws thought it was very cute and were laughing. Then last week, we all went out for dinner, I was dressed up, and told my husband when we went back there, to please keep the dogs away from me (I thought it was his place, since its his parents), but I still left covered in hair and smelling like dog. What do you do? I don't want to be rude, but they are oblivious to their bad behavior. I don't even want to go there now.

I am going to be getting a yellow lab puppy in a couple of weeks, and I still haven't decided on a name.
I really like unique names that barely anyone has used.
Oh, and by the way... It's a girl.
