My 8 week old pup loves to play. The problem is whenever my senior dog (13 year old hound) is around she jumps on his back, tries to bite on his ear, sniffs aound. Well he barks to say leave me alone to her. I am tired of him getting yelled at and really him to get along with the pup. Does anyone know a way to solve this?

Old dogs are the best teachers for puppies. As long as your old man doesn't have behavior issues he will teach the new girl the proper way to act in their own doggie language. Have patience-it will work out.

Set boundaries for the pup, if the elder dog is lying down and is not in the mood to play. You have to be a barrier, once the pup realizes he/she will not be getting pass you, he/she will tire and find something else to do. You have to be stern w/ the pup, the sooner the pup learns "A time for playing and a time for quiet" the better off he will be.

let the old dog teach the pup that he's had enough. if he hasnt hurt the pup yet i doubt he will. my 2 dogs had the same thing and i let them sort it out themselves and the big one rolled the little one over and held her paw on it. that scared the dog straight and now they get along great. in fact they are both sleeping curled up together right now.

As long as the older dog isn't agressive and the puppy listens to it's warnings they should work this out on there own .I feel bad for the old dog puppys can be a huge pain!!
