Do NOT flip it over like the first person said, or KICK it! Are those people crazy! Chi's should never receive physical punishment for bad behavior. A stern scolding, or smacking the floor next to him should scare him - teaching him what he did was wrong. But, don't expect him to like everyone. Chi's love their owners, and that's usually it. Be patient, and take good care of him. Good luck!

Chihuahuas are a tricky breed. I have had mine for two years. He is good with other people. They are much a one owner dog though. Mine had the same problem. To stop it I just ignored him and stepped on him if he got in the way. He eventually quit. I was worried I would hurt him, but he was aware and careful to stay out of the way. That solved the problem. Sometimes a "No" will not work. They used to that word and it becomes ineffective. I also use "uh uhh" and "no sir". He listens very well. You may need to swat him too. Don't wail on him, but let him know it is not ok.

A dog should be trained on how to eat, walk with you, not to bark, potty training and sleep on its place etc. You can teach anything to your puppy, dogs get trained easily with some good instructions. If you want some good training tips visit https://tr.im/liHoN

If properly trained, they should also understand whistle and gesture equivalents for all the relevant commands, e.g. short whistle or finger raised sit, long whistle or flat hand lay down, and so on.

It's important that they also get gestures and whistles as voice may not be sufficient over long distances and under certain circumstances.

everytime it does that, pick it up, flip it on it's back and say no. this will show that you are the alpha dog and telling him that this is not the right way to act. if that doesnt help, get a coke can fill it with some pennies and shake it and say NO sharply at the pup when you see him attack things he's not suppose to.
may need to exercise that little thing to get him to calm down too.

LP, when i said flip the dog over, i didnt mean to pick it up over 3 feet int he air and toss the dog. i jst meant that if you were the mom dog, thats what it would do. make it submissive so it learns that biting ankles and feet are bad.

Because he's a Chihuahua; that's what they do. Consult a behavior counselor for help. Your puppy class instructor or vet should be able to refer you to someone. In the meantime, keep him confined if children are going to be around.
