Dogs - February 2007

I got home and found that my two chihuahuas had eaten my entire snickers bar!! I'm scared now because i heard that dogs could die from eating chocolate... will they be ok?? they seem fine... they're running around playing but it still frightens me a bit.

we just got a english mastiff puppy brindle color. my husband wants to raise him as a guard dog. but I want him to a loving house pet. Should i let him have his way, or keep fighting him about it?

a. Do you take your dogs for walks for them or for your own excercise?
b. What breeds of dogs do you own?
c. How long on average do you take them and how often?
d. What will they do if you won't/can't take them?



I have a husky...... enough said lol. She will get AT LEAST one 30-60 minute walk depending on weather my mom takes her or not. I try to take her once a day. If she wants to go, she follows me around and barks and howls and R-U-N-S up and down th e halls untill I give in and just take her! It's a good combingtation because you know she LOVES walks and I get some good excercise and she helps me run and stuff! What about you?

I tried inflamaway. It didn't really work. I guess I might be looking for a miracle cure, but it hurts me to see her in so much pain. She is a small shepherd mutt and LOVES to run and play. . .but after she is always so stiff and sore. She cries when she gets up. It doesn't help that we have hardwood floors either. I just want to take away the pain.

I had this dog once and it was around Christmas and he used to get into the neighbor's decorations, like this little plastic Santa Claus,and bring them home. That was a dumb dog.

I found a dog that has light brown furr, very light brown face , and brown eyes. He is very hyper and very friendly. He is wearing a chain choke collar. ok, so i really want a german shephard but i dont think it would be the best for me at this time mainly because of its size. I was wondering if anybody knows of any good dog breeds/mixes that have all or most of these traits:
1)I want a friendly, family dog who is very social and likes kids but isnt too hyper all the time
2) a dog that is medium to small(not like a polmeranina or anything that small ) just not to large
3) a dog with short hair thats easy to clean
4) a dog that doesnt bark to much
5) a dog thats easy to take care of
6) a dog that doesnt need a ton or room to roam around in(I'll take it on walks almost daily and it has a semi-big yard space)

Just earlier today i noticed that when my 2 year old male dachshund mix urinates a couple of drops of blood comes out. He is acting normal in every way, he is eating, drinking, and having normal bowel movements and he is his normal hyper self. What could this blood be from? I will be taking him to a vet, but i would like to know before i take him in what might be wrong with him.

I need tips to get my female puppy of 1yr old in control..she misbehaved badly infront of peoples by jumping wildly..she is choosy about food..if we don't give her can food ..she won't eat her grains..she can go hrs sitting looking at the food..even though she has not eaten..she bark a lot for no reason..looking for attention..when we are busy..though we just finish playing with her..Is there a way..to get her eat at a specific time,stop her barking and jumping..I'm 6mths pregnant..i don't want her to get jealous once the baby is here..cause she just need attention on her..and when we don't ..she'll turn her back on us and act mad..showing us her butt..and she keep on giving us sometimes wrong signal with her attitude.she is very dominant as well towards certain peoples..how to get her know her position..cause i don't appreciate that kind of way of her.no offense to others..o would like to have advice from experience dog owners not those for those who just giving opinion and don't know
