It isn't easy to let go of something you love. Especially if you don't have closure (knowing what happened to it). Some would say get another dog. While that does help you still need to let go of this one and remember the good times you had with it. Not to forget but move ahead... Maybe talk to some friends that have lost a pet too. Keep working at it, time does really help.

You could amke a memory box of what ur dogs favorite thing were and put pics of it in there. also find something it really loved, like when we put my dog to sleep I knew he loves sunflowers and so i got a fake sunflower and put it on the celing in my room to know that he is in doggy heaven playing with other dogs! I am so sorry about ur dog! I hope this helps!!! you could also try build a bear and see if they have the breed of dog that u had and make a stuffed animal of it! that is what i did and it made me feel a lot better but i still miss him tons even though it was a year ago!

Im so sorry to hear about your loss. I dont really know the cure to that. Ive lost a dog once when i was a kid and i cried like there was no tomorrow. I guess i diverted my attention some place else. If not.. try checking out your local animal shelters for adopting a dog. I know it will not replace the ones that youve lost but it will somehow help you move on.
Again, im sorry to hear about your lost dog.

i'm sorry to hear this. I have lost a few dogs too. I cried for all of them.

If you think you can handle another dog I would consider it. Of course nothing can replace your dog, but if you get another one it gives you someone to love and can help you get over your loss.

If you think it is too soon for another dog that is understandable, but remember all the happy times you had.

I read chicken soup for the dog lover's soul.

Don't look at me like that, I LOVE chicken soup! It talks about someone's feelings, which may sound sappy, but it teaches you how to deal with it. The author may just cry it out, join a pet-grieving camp, or join a club. YOU should do the same!

I like the distraction technique, get out, chill with friends, maybe even get a new pet if that helps. Just don't think about it and your sub-consious should work it out over time.

If not, there's allways counceling.

You can never get over anything that dies.
Its really sad at first and you cry a lot!
but eventually you will stop cring but never stop that sad feeling.
my dog got ran over by a tractor trailer and i was in hestarics.
I just sleep with his collar by my side.
you should keep something that reminds you of him/her.

your mom had to get rid of the dog. she gave you that story so you would shut up about the dog and start to forget about it..
