Okay my first question may seem a little odd but it confused me. I have never had a male dog before so forgive me for the ignorance on the issue.....but when male dogs are neutered, do they always castrate them? I had my male cats neutered and they still "appear" to be intact as they only cut the sac to remove the testicles then close the wounds and it fills with fluid appearing normal. Yet I was brushing my dogs belly last night and noticed he has NOTHING but a penis. No sac, no anything. Is this common practice?

My second question is, what would make a dog not like the good foods? I have tried feeding him Natural Choice, Iams, Science Diet, Pro Plan, Pro Plan Select, and Authority. No luck, he refuses to eat any of it. He will nibble here and there but no real eating and he's losing weight now. Vet says he's perfectly healthy, all tests came back normal. Suggested just trying new foods to find one he'll eat. More info coming.........

i had my rottweilers tail docked about 2 months ago... the first time he was biting on the stiches and the wound wouldn't heal. the vet had to do it again and kind of shorter the second time.
everything went fine the second time and we had the stiches removed.the same night i noticed that my dog was limping. he seemed to have a problem with his hind leg. we took x-rays that showed one leg shorter than the other.
i am starting to believe that this ia a problem that occured by docking the tail because:
a. he was walking and jumping before and how is it possible from one day to another for a leg to get shorter and cause all these sudden symptoms?
b. the dog cannot strech out his leg. if he could then the 2 legs would have the same lenght. so i'm thinking that maybe a neurve was damaged during the tail docking and not being able to strech the leg makes it look shorter and wider in the x-ray.

I have 2 yorkie pups, each about 4 months old. One of them became very sick and was vomiting (yellow) every so often. She wouldn't eat and was not her playful-puppy self. I took her to the Emergency Vet and they just gave her shots for dehydration and checked a fecal sample for worms which came up negative. They suggested she might have the flu. The next morning I tried feeding her and gave her a bowl of water. No Luck. My father rushed her to our regular Vet because she continued to vomit and not eat. They kept her overnight and said she was very dehydrated. Not only did I throw $150 down the drain at the Emergency Vet. I still don't know the actual problem she has. I'm very scared and I don't want to lose another one like this. What could be the problem? The other pup(her sister) I have is perfectly fine. I just don't get it.

Okay, my husband was walking our dogs in the woods and my Australian Shepherd / Border Collie Mix was running and jumping about when he cut himself really bad, we think on a broken bottle. He was bleeding profusely. I rushed him right to the vet and he patched him up by stiching him. I was up for 3 nights with him and then the worst! He chewed through his bandage and tore out all his stiches. At this point his pad was completely hanging off and looked chewed However he was not bleeding but the flesh is VERY visable. I rushed him back to the vet and he stiched him back up again. We got a bunch of bitter stuff so he wouldn't chew, and I could get some sleep, however on the second night he did it again and now I am at a place where I do not know what to do. I have a new vet and I don't want him running up my bill as he has been, steeply. I have been bandaging and airing out this wound for a week and a half since he cut it and it doesn't look good. HELP

I've been thinking about this for a while. Obviously all service dogs have to learn to behave in public, and correct me if I'm wrong but aren't there organizations that do just that? If you have a dog that's training to be a service dog, even if you yourself do not need a service dog, can it go all the places a fully trained service dog can? Also, on a different note, but related, are service dogs allowed in apartments that otherwise do not allow pets?

Okay, I like the area I live in because there is this hot boy, but I know he'll never like me, but I still like seeing him at church. If I wait 2 more years, I can go to highschool with him. He'll prolly have a gf by then. Or, I can move to another place 2 hours away, where my mom will build a new {totally larger} house with a swimming pool and everything. [way larger]. If I move, I can get a fresh start. Possible popularity and new friends and everything accept I wont see this boy anymore. I won't really miss this house too much. Should I move, or stay. Give reasons please. :]]

If you do, tell me.

I have a Doberman, Named hammer. he is my 11th dobie. I've been raised with dobermans, and they are the best breed ever! dont beleive me, then check out the stats..
I saved him from a shelter when he was 11 months old, he is pure bred, but his first owners couldnt keep him anymore because they already paid too much for him " a thousand dollars" and they didnt want to keep up with him, so they dropped him off at the shelter when he was 3 months old. he then was adopted agian at 9 months, but he got loose, but when the shelter picked him up, the second owners didnt want him, they said that he was too big and stalky, and they just didnt want him anymore, he was too affectionate. and they didnt have time for that. and when i came in to look for a dobe with my father, the shelter said he only had the weekend to live, it was friday! I adopted him immeadiataly. Now he is being police trained by me, bc all my dobes were. and now he is the best obediant dobie ever!
