I have 2 yorkie pups, each about 4 months old. One of them became very sick and was vomiting (yellow) every so often. She wouldn't eat and was not her playful-puppy self. I took her to the Emergency Vet and they just gave her shots for dehydration and checked a fecal sample for worms which came up negative. They suggested she might have the flu. The next morning I tried feeding her and gave her a bowl of water. No Luck. My father rushed her to our regular Vet because she continued to vomit and not eat. They kept her overnight and said she was very dehydrated. Not only did I throw $150 down the drain at the Emergency Vet. I still don't know the actual problem she has. I'm very scared and I don't want to lose another one like this. What could be the problem? The other pup(her sister) I have is perfectly fine. I just don't get it.

The Emergency Vet ruled out an X-Ray because of how small she was. Not enough fat. More fat, better the X-Ray. Her body temperature was normal so they said that was good thing, obviously. We took her to another Vet and they are holding overnight as of right now and i'm still waiting for results. I was just trying to possible get a quick answer so that way I can be fine. I can't sleep and I'm hoping this Vet doesn't beat around the bush like the last Vet did.

Just talked with the Vet today. They took an X-Ray and saw some foreign object in her stomach. I'm not questioning her professionalism but i'm still trying to grasp the idea of how she even came up with that diagnostic considering the size of my pup. She's no bigger than an average laptop so the size of her stomach wouldn't make the X-Ray easy to look at. So they will perform surgery because quote unquote she believes that there is a foreign object in her stomach.

Did you return to the same vet? If so, go to a different one and get another opinion. It's not normal for a puppy to act that way, she needs further testing to find the cause of her vomiting and lethargic mood. Is it possible that she got into something? I hope you find the problem and soon!!

Did you do any bloodwork or parvo test? I'm not saying you did this, but many people who come into our emergency facility will decline to do those important tests due to the cost, and then they get angry when we cant give them an exact diagnosis. I cant imagine they wouldnt have offered them to you unless you told them you had financial constraints. I would ask your vet to do a parvo test as soon as possible, as that is the most common cause of illness in young puppies.

you mentioned the fecal sample, but did the vet's do an x-ray to rule out a blockage in the esophigus, stomach or intestines? was there a fever? did they do a blood weork up to rule out a virus or bacterial infecton or poisoning? there are so many things it could be...
sorry to hear about her illness, but cannot help without the above questions answeted... maybe add details. best of luck to both of you.
