As long as the dog is acting normal nothing is wrong, it probably just ate some bones. Dogs that eat bones have white stools

Did you recently change it's food? As food and other material passes through the digestive tract, nutrients and water get absorbed, leaving behind the stool or feces. The animal gets rid of the "leftovers" or "unusables" when it defecates—so the feces are actually a significant clue as to what is going on in your pet's gastrointestinal tract.
A warning sign of a potential illness is the presence of bright red blood, or black and tarry feces—this may indicate gastrointestinal bleeding. Mucus, which occurs due to large bowel irritation, gives the stool a very shiny appearance.
A number of disorders can cause your dog's stool to change, but diet is quite often the culprit. If you feed your dog a fairly consistent diet everyday, you should expect him to have a standard quantity and quality of feces on a regular basis. Be wary of changing your pet's menu abruptly; the digestive tract of the dog is sensitive enough that a change in the brand of food can cause loose stools for several days to a week.
Your veterinarian can perform a number of diagnostic tests on a stool sample

I give my dog cooked soup bones and he chews them down to powder. It took me a while to figure out why he had white chalky stools. It doesn't seem to effect him in any other way, the vet says he is healthy with great teeth and bones. It only happens when he chews a lot of soup bones.

It is most likely bones but, yes it can also be a sign of a liver disorder. You should know if the dogs has been given bones. If not at the very least I would call a vet.

It usually indicates a high amount of calcium in the diet and is considered normal. You can try switching to a different food.
When feces become white and urine becomes brown, that means the liver is in "end stage" failure and the bile pigments are being lost in the urine instead of the feces, which indicates a terminal condition. White feces in the absence of dark urine may mean other things. [however, white means white, not just light or pale].

You should have your dog examined by your vet.
White poop is sometimes caused when the dog's body does not produce an enzyme that aids in fat digestion, so certain parts of its food are not properly digested. Your vet can perform a test to see whether this is the cause, and if it is, prescribe medication for your dog to balance out his/her deficiency.
