My Jack Russell Terrier was sitting on my b/f's lap. He was petting her and when he stopped she jumped up and bit him on the face! I have only had her for a week. I adopted her from the pound. She loves being petted and brushed why would she bite?

My 14 year old Yorkie, who was recently to a vet for a checkup, of which all his blood tests came back good. He starting having diarehha 2 days ago, which has passed, but now i notice he is having a hard time urininating and the urine has a red color to it. Does this sound like a cold, flu, or something more serious? He seems fine of than that, still playful eating good, good general spirits.

My puppy is teething, just turned 4 months. HE HAS TERRORIZED THE HOUSE! He jumped up to the counter, grabbed the bread, then was up all night with bowel movements- which kept us up all night. He tore up so much! He is going crazy! He moans in pain, and I rub his jaw. Since he's been teething, we haven't slept! We love him and feel bad. Are there any suggestions? Thanks!

Recently got 2 year old black lab from humane society. He is terrified of my husband. Barks and growls at him whenever he sees him, runs away from him. He is very attached to me, tolerates my kids, but wants nothing to so with husband. How can I get him to be comfortable with all family members and to stop barking at husband? We've had him for 6 months and it's not gotten any better. We've tried having my husband feed him treats, take him for walks, prong collar. nothing works! help!

I have watched it everytime its been on, not only is it entertaining it is also a brilliant show to get tips off when your dog misbehaves in some way!

Also, those that say Mic Martin is nasty, is so wrong! he just wants to see responsible owners with welll behaved dogs, he seems like a great dog trainer! What do you think?

We HAD to take our german shepard in 2 weeks ago on a Sunday. He was running and caught himself on the corner of the race car trailer and tore his skin bad. He had to have it stapled. 35 of them. The whole thing cost 400.00! Then, he had to go back to get the tube remove, that was there for drainage. That cost 25.00. Now, we got the staples out yesterday, and he needs another surgery, because they didn't cut enough skin when they did the first operation. (From trauma like that, some skin dies off. So they cut some off to take care of it.) He will need about 10 to 13 more staple to finish closing him up. Why do they charge so much just because it's a weekend!?

I have a 6month old male jack russell terrier/pitbull mix. I leave the house from 8am-5pm and my cousin comes in and checks on him and plays and takes him for walks and stuff around 10:30-11am. but he still eats the couch, and just displays destructive behavior from the time that i leave him til she gets there to get him. Why is he acting like this? in a 2hour period, he managed to eat my couch and 2 shoes. I don't know why he would act like this. Once she gets there, she usually stays with him til i get home.

She was fine before bed, my son woke me about 12:30 am, she was sleeping and just peed on the bed, she was lifeless, could not walk well, very sleepy, would open eyes but would not move much, this morning she was still very sleepy, but could walk fine. She was acting better this morning, but all she wanted to do is sleep. Any ideals???

took my dog (6 month border collie) to the beach on the weekend for the first time, and my husband was throwing his ball into the water i could not believe how excited he was he loved jumping over the ripples in water to get to his ball, he slept for hours when we got home, however the following day he had a bit of an upset bellie we put it down to him swallowing some sea water he was fine in himself though. i would like to take him again on weekend but is it safe for him to be in sea water, what i mean is will it do him any real harm if he swallows sea water. it would be a shame not to take him he had the best time ever. any advice

Every now and then (maybe once a month) my boxer will start to strain and “gulp” for breath. It’s hard to explain, but it’s almost as though his nose is stuffed up and he’s trying to suck in air though his nose really hard, and he strains with his whole body while sucking in through his nose, then he’ll gulp, then he’ll strain again. This can go on for 5 to 10 min.

Now before I get a lot of people telling me to take him to the vet – I already have an appointment on Saturday.

I want to know, from those of you who have Boxers, if you have ever observed similar behavior in your dogs? And do you know what causes it? Is it nothing but a stuffed up nose and the dog is straining to clear his breathing passage? Allergies maybe? Or is it caused by a physical problem – like a deviated septum in humans?

Even if he is just sitting with me and I go to pet him or anything for that matter he bites. Its as if he is playing but, his little sharp teeth hurt. I have tryed plenty of chewing toys and does not help.

hi, In response to my query about collar type for a shih-tzu, folks wrote about different collars for different situations.
shouldn't a dog wear a collar with id/lic. tags all day?
do you have to change/put on a new collar everytime you want to go for a walk?

if they do have to wear one all day- can it be a harness? martingale? should it be a buckle collar?

thanks and sorry if questions seem like basics- getting my first dog, so i just don't know.
peace,
ira
ps-, didn't know how to modify my previous question so had to do a new one-in case someone is wondering.

It will be one night for one dog, almost 24 hours. She can come and go as she pleases and there are some extras at our home she can enjoy, like DSL and satellite TV, but also she will be closer to her church than if she stayed at home(30 minutes) for the next morning and she is a close friend. However, we really appreciate her doing this and know that she will be taking very good care of our 7 1/2 year old bulldog and we want to compensate her for doing this for us!! What should we pay her?
