The mommy has rejected her little boy, he looks well and up also he is prety strong i believe he is only a week pre-mature or possibly just a few days. I went to the pet store and was referred a milk replacement so i am bottle feeding every 4 hours. I need advice on what to do next! I am a first time foster-mom.

The pup needs to be fed every two hours for the first week. You need to rub its bottom to stimulate urination and bowel movements. It must be kept warm at all times. After the first week you can feed it every three hours. If you don't stimulate its eliminations it will die. Good Luck, its hard work.

Go to a vet for info on puppy care. People at the pet store are there for one thing, RETAIL work. They most likely haven't even graduated high school. Your mother-in-law shouldn't have even bred the dog. A mini beagle is just a poorly bred puppy mill mutt. Does she know the risks she put her precious dog through? She didn't even go to the vet during the pregnancy I bet, or you'd know how early the pup was born compared to the 63 day gestation period.

Mother's milk is the best so if you can get the mother to let the puppy nurse, that is the best. But also keep an eye on the mom just in case she hurts or even kill or eat her offspring. Many mothers that have litters when they are really young neglect their litters.
How do you know it is a premature puppy?

Aw... That is so sad, but I've heard of it happening before. Beyond the first person's comments about feeding and bowel movements, lots of love and physical contact is my first suggestion, and not just with you but with other people, too and socialization with other dogs is a solid idea. Your puppy will be imprinted on people, so he might grow up to be very shy towards other dogs if you don't get him around them.

Beyond that, get a heating pad that's filled with rice. Not only is it free of electric cords, but it's a moist heat that will be good for the puppy to curl up with. If the puppy isn't happy with it, try sleeping with the pad to make it smell like you. Also, maybe put one of your old t-shirts in his bed.

Lots of luck!

Number one, there is no such thing as a miniature Beagle, so you were duped! Number two, because of that fact you should never have allowed her to become pregnant. Get her spayed and stop backyard breeding.
