Last Saturday, I took my dog (10 lb Pomeranian) with me to go snowshoeing. We ended up waiting for an hour with all our warm clothes on for my friend to show up. Finally, we had to walk down to the trail, which is about a 1/3 of a mile.
On the way there, my dog kicked off one of his foot covers--doggie boots--since I couldn't put it on without a hassle, I just took them all off. But once we got to the trail, I became concerned that his feet my get icy from being in the boots then in the snow. So I decided to go home. I carried him part of the way, then put his boots on for the rest. We immediately went home and I kept him inside for the rest of the day.
But it seems that, since then, he has been obsessively licking his paws. He did this once before to one paw when he did something to irritate his dew claw. The pads of his feet look normal, no swelling or cracks.
And being the paranoid pet owner that I am, I'm worried that he got frostbite. How can I tell what's up?

i have a 5 month old pitpull. I read books of puppys and they say keep them on puppy food for 1 year. My vet said i can start her on adult food when she is 5 months old. I dunno who is right? I have been feeding her puppy dry food and mixing adult wet food in it. But i was just wondering should i take her off the puppy food now or should i start buying wet puppy food? or is my mixing puppy and adult food good or bad?

What was he trying to do? He was going crazy rolling and contorting in whatever the scent was. Was he leaving or trying to pick up a scent?

I have a six month old male German Shepherd/Retriever cross He is very boisterous, and as we have a two year old son we want the dog neutered to calm him down a bit. I am currently on benefits so cannot afford to pay a vet, yet when I contacted the PDSA they said that as a policy they dont provide neutering as one of there services, yet they advise that pets are neutered.

Ok. I think that my dog doesn't respect me at all and that is the root of all of her problems. She bites/nibbles on everyone's limbs even though she has PLENTY of chew toys. She still is having a hard time potty training (last night she soild my mom's new $400 rug, i think she was "marking a new territory') She will NOT come to me when I call her at all. She does not listen to me when I tell her "no" or "stop barking" When I do tell her to stop, she gets aggressive and growls at me. She poops all over the house the second we let her out even though she is being crate trained. We let her out to eat and she goes to the bathroom, she doesn't warn us that she has to go potty, and most of the time doesn't go while I take her repeadetly at least every 10 minutes. Yet, she has has seperation anxiety and wants to sleep right next to me at night. I give her LOTS of attention and I play with her a lot. I can not understand this dog!! Please someone help me before I am forced to give her away!!

...let my 2 greys ( 1 i have had since last thursday)off the lead when out walking i have just been told im cruel!! can u believe it? one of my greys retired last oct and my new one has never raced, they are sight hounds and thats what they are bred to do...chase, i no im not cruel in keeping them off the lead so why do so many people judge you about the way you choose to walk your dog? the lady who commented to me today has a grey who she has had a year and is scared stiff of other dogs and little kids and she has started to walk him on an extended lead so she can let him off in time coz she says thats how dogs should b ? but in my eyes that doesnt include dogs that have been bred to chase, Do people think im wrong in NOT letting my 2 greys walk off the lead? your coments plz thanx xx

Me and my husband are at wit's end with our pups. We resucued a Border/aussie /bernese mt dog mix when he was just under a year old. He had been adopted out once before, but it wasnt a good fit for the dog. We adopted him, he was shy when we met him, he warmed up quickly to us. We asked if he had issues with other dogs, they said no he was living with up to 10 other dogs at the rescue and he neevr had an issue. He was pretty shy for the first month we had him, then one day our roommate when to pet him while he was laying down and it strattled him and he nipped at her. since then he's been aggressive towards other dogs and kind shy of people. His aggression is horrible now, and seems to be getting worse. he's been in classes and was doing ok, not great he still cant get near a dog, except one. We adopted this other dog, shes still a puppy about 6-7 mons. She is having explosive diaherra, she has to be crated day and night when we cant watch her.she howls at night,we havent slept for2 day

Please help me, I have a 4 mnth old German shepard, but he is out of control. He was staying in the kitchen until he was toilet trained but he goes anywhere, whenever he wants. I come downstairs every morning and he has opened every cupboard and drawer, he eats everything, eggs still in their shells, porridge oats....When I give him his dinner (3 times a day) he eats like theres no tomorrow and if I walk near him while he eats, he now snarls and growls at me, we can't get near him to give him cuddles and love without it ending in him biting me or my child who is 4yrs old, who he doesn't like much.
If we are sitting together he tries to drag her off of the couch or he jumps on top of her to sit next to me, but yet he doesn't want to give me any love when my child isn't around.
I really want to love him more, but I cannot cope with this behaviour, is it normal? What can I do? A dog is for life so I don't want to get rid of him., I really want him to be a part of our family.

I have an 8 month old Lab/German Shepard mix, Roxy. Right now Roxy is not alone for more than 3 hours, but during the day when my husband is home, he is asleep because he has a night job. When I am home from work at night Roxy goes to bed when I do. She has plenty of toys and rawhides to chew on but she recently started chewing up our shoes and has ruined 4 pairs! We moved them into a closet but how can we deter this behavior in the future and keep her from chewing on other things??
