If this is a result of crating you puppy for the first few times, you simply have to ignore it. Eventually puppy will get the idea. But if puppy is crating okay at nite, then at some point begins to whine, this may be because puppy needs a potty run.

put them in a crate. When they start whining say "Quiet!" and then ignore them - it worked on my dog.
