There are a TON of no bite products available you can apply to your woodwork - we used one called "Bitter Yuck" with our pup - it's alcohol free, and can also be applied to their paws, etc. if they've got hot spots. Unfortunately, it didn't really work for us, and as I talked with other dog owners, I heard more of the same story about similar products not being effective. Every dog is different, though, and they're not expensive, so it's worth it to try.

I was told that for electrical cords, one of the best things you can do is wipe the cord with a glue stick, and then sprinkle cayenne pepper on them to prevent chewing. I was also told that slicing a jabenero pepper and rubbing the oil onto the woodwork was highly effective in stopping chewing.

I personally did not try either method, so I cannot vouch for the effectiveness of either, but it was advice given to me from several people.

I know you can't be home 24/7 to watch your Staffie, but keep an eye on him. When you catch him near your woodwork, give him a good firm correction and say "no bite!" or "leave it!" calmly and firmly, and instruct everyone in your family to give the same correction/command when they catch him.

Good luck!!

Have you tried smearing something that doesn't taste very nice where he bites for a few days - it might make him think twice after he has a mouthful of something he doesn't like - try lemon juice or something like it!!

Other than that - I am not been at all accusing - but he could need walking more - Staffies (in my experience!!) have bundles of energy and need constant attention and stimulation - they are a real peoples dog and like company, when they are bored they tend to get up no good, wonder if you have a helpful neighbour of friend that might nip round during the day and show him some attention!

and also if he is still young and in his puppy stages the he just might grow out of it!

good luck - they are lovely and rewarding dogs to have xxx

you can buy bitter apple spray at the pet store or even use hot sauce but the best thing that I have used is olive oil mixed with red pepper flakes, pepper, hot sauce. another question is when is he chewing on the wood?? is it when you are gone from the house..because if so he could have a severe case of seperation anxiety which can be somewhat difficult to cure. if it is seperation anxiety then try leaving the tv or radio on and I would highly suggest crate training. and reading up on the subject. he could also be really stressed...my dog will try to chew on anything and everything if he is stressed so you should take him on long runs or find a dog park to take him to so he can play and play and play. and if you havent bought him one yet..get him a KONG..you can get it at any pet store...they are hard rubber and hollow on the inside you can fill it with yummy peanut butter or cheese and dog treats and even freeze them for HOURS of fun. the dogs have to use their tounges to get the good out so it stimulates the dogs brain. another method is when you see him going to chew on the wood..yell NO! and give him something he CAN chew on....dogs dont know what you dont teach them :) hope that helps some...
