Anyone know any easy way to train your dogs. I have a lot of spare time on my hands and I thought I should try to train my Pomaranian Poodle. It can keep me busy.

I am interested in investing in an invisible fence. I have a Siberian Husky- they are known for being runners- and I plan on getting a toy breed puppy within the next few months.

Based on your experiences are invisible fences a good choice for these types of dogs? I'm worried about my Husky ignoring it and I'm worried about a shock being too harsh for a toy dog.

Do you have any suggestions for my situation?

Also, any reccomendations as far as purchasing a fence to be installed by me or having one installed by a company?

My dog acts very terrible when my sister and I try to cut her toenails. She gets so upset and one time even pooped while we were trying. It is not possible for us to cut them. When she gets them cut by her doctor or one of the people there she is calm and just lets them do it. Does anyone know if they push on a pressure point or have some secret thing they do to get her to be calm?

Need alot of input on this crate training...?
please feel free anyone to help me out here..I have a deposit down on a puppy, to be taken home on March 9th...The puppy will be 9 weeks...my work schedule is mon 7am-1 (sometimes could go to 2pm..with no time to come home inbetween.Tues..7-5 (1hr.I can come home for lunch break. Wednesday 12pm-8pm(break for 1hr 3:30-4:30) to come home, thurs...7-5 again with 1hr. break home & Frid.7-1 with no break...I don't think a 9 or 10 wk. old puppy can last on some of these spans (5 and 6 hr. length.) My husband leaves at 7:30 so we can extend the morning by 1/2hr. My daughter (18) may help sometimes, but not dependable...I was considering using 1/2paper, 1/2 bed for the pup in the crate...everyone discourages this but otherwise I think I'll just be coming home to poop and pee daily..when can the pup hold it to co-inside with my hrs..what should I do????

There's a local event coming to my area that will microchip my dog for only $20 (they're very reputable and it's a special offer kind of thing). I've been considering this because I love my dog so much and if he was lost, I'd definitely want him found and brought back to us. A friend of mine bought a dog from a breeder a few years back and said he came microchipped but they never activated it because there was some sort of monthly or yearly charge to keep it active. I guess kinda like lo-jack for your dog or something. Does anyone know if that's true? I thought microchipping was just a "tag" placed under their skin that vets offices and shelters and the like can scan to locate info. Does anyone know?

We purchased an ACA registered Pekingese from a local breeder.
(The same one we got our AKC registered Pekingese from, last year.) Last year we got a female, this year we bought a male
with the intent of showing the puppy. Our breeder is no longer with the AKC she says because they didn't feel her home was appropriate to breed animals in, when the person from AKC visited.
The breeder said the AKC rep was the mother of a woman she regularly beats in shows and had a vengence motive for lying to the AKC. I saw nothing wrong with the kennel or the breeders home, in fact it's the best looking kennel I've ever seen (I've seen lots.) The breeder is now being forced to sell her home and move out of state because of reduced income from losing AKC. She has registered her breeding stock and shown it with ACA, though.
My pups parents both won ACA championships, last year. The breeder swears ACA shows are just as good or better than AKC.
Anyone know anything about American Canine Associa

1 leg is straight, the other has like a bend in it off to the right, like where a humans knee would be...
and when he is sitting or standing and has the other straightened out, the one that is odd shaped kind of shakes, or shivers.

Anyone know what this is...I KNOW I NEED TO SEE A VET, and I will, but Im a foster mom to him and just got him today. And wondered if anyones pup/dog has this and knows what it is..
Thanks

Here's the story. . .

My dog (Speedy, an 8 year old Shih Tzu) has been favoring his front left paw today. Now, it's been below zero in temperature with -20 degree wind chill in Michigan the last few days. We don't let him out unless he has to "do his duty" in the yard. Even with this we'll watch him. A few times he's had a hard time walking back to the door because of what we assumed was cold paws. Nevertheless, he's never stays out longer then about 4-5 munutes at a time.

He won't let us take a look at his paw; he'll snap at us and shreek in pain. He'll continue with his regular everyday routines but it's obvious his in pain. We don't have any rock salt in the yard either. Could it be frostbite? Or could it be something else. Please help!

I have had a lot of dogs in my life and they have had some bad habits that I have been able to correct but holy moly!!! She is dachound and jack russel. Everytime she is within anyones "face range" she licks and lick and whines and licks right at the mouth! I have tried "no! and putting her down, then picking her up in a few minutes and trying it again" I've tried, yelling at her, flicking her nose, putting sticky lip gloss on, and blowing in her face when she gets close to it. NOTHING detours her and she won't give up. And heaven forbid if I lay down at night!! Someone please help! I've run out of ideas

My 18 week old cocker spaniel has a cough fro 2 mornings and evenings. We went to our local vet the first morning, no temperature, chest clear. He is eating but the cough makes him retch. he vomited this morning after breakfast. (but ate another meal OK staright afterwards) does he need a scope? or will it settle in a few days? Surely, if he had something stuck in his throat, he would cough all the time, wouldn't he?
He has had his 2 injections, but needs a KC booster, due as soon as he is better!
