It will be one night for one dog, almost 24 hours. She can come and go as she pleases and there are some extras at our home she can enjoy, like DSL and satellite TV, but also she will be closer to her church than if she stayed at home(30 minutes) for the next morning and she is a close friend. However, we really appreciate her doing this and know that she will be taking very good care of our 7 1/2 year old bulldog and we want to compensate her for doing this for us!! What should we pay her?

Most professional Pet Sitters all ready have a price list. Since she is a good friend, perhaps you may want to give her a gift certificate, or one of the major credit cards that let you pick the amount you want to give her. Usually when I overnight, board a pet my fee is $25.00. Again, since she is a close friend you may want to get her a personal friend type gift. In this case money maybe too tacky since you are good friends.

If she is a close friend she probably won't take your money. However, you could have a conversation with her about what you both feel is fair. Maybe you could just stock the house with her favorite snacks and foods for dinner. (and if she is over 21 you could get her a nice bottle of wine)

well my local groomer watches dogs at her house for a living as well and she only charges 20$ a day (for 24 hours)....and she will walk the dog as well as play with him and attend to his needs as well... and most kennels will also charge you no more then 30$ for the day so i guess that you can pay them what ever you feel is right

Get her a gift card to some place she likes. I would hate to take money from my friend, but a gift card to a book store or something would make my day.

Since it is 24 hours, you should pay her around $10 - $15. I dogsat for one week and they payed me $75.

as its a close friend- its a little different. most folks in our area charge 25-30. but as a friend, i would think a gift would be more appropriate than cash. jmho
