My wife and I work and go to school full time, so I was wondering if we buy a English bulldog puppy, will he be ok all alone and by himself
for at least half of the day?

Yeah, you shouldn't have a problem. Did you do research on the breed yet? You should do research on any animal before you get it. Because it might end up not being what you expected.

Make sure you are getting your dog from either a reputable breeder or the animal shelter/rescue groups.

Don't buy from pet stores/puppymills.

You can go here and see if you find any for adoption in your area:

It would be nice if there is someone that could take him out to potty and spend some time with him when you are away. How long will the puppy be alone for?
If you can't have someone do that, you should put it in a large enough area where it can sleep and play in and also eliminate itself in a different area. An exercise pen would be appropriate for this. You can get extra panels to enlarge the space if needed.
When you get home you should spend plenty of time with it.

I own 3 english bulldogs. They should be okay by himself for at least 1/2 a day. Just please be sure to study up on the breed as they have a lot of special needs and some do have health problems. If you have decided to get one, or are still thinking, please feel free to ask more questions as I may can answer. Also, look up bulldogsworld.com as they have a lot of useful information and discussion groups.

Sure, millions of people have to work and also have dogs. You'll need to buy a crate or exercise pen for your puppy and keep him in it during the day when no one's home until he's housetrained and past the chewing stage. You also have to be committed to having a dog, meaning you're willing to spend evenings and weekends with him. Most dogs now are companion animals and they need companionship.

No. A puppy is going to need someone with him most of the time at least, for training purposes and to walk him when he needs to go.
