My sister lives in a very very small farming town. I mean SMALL. The trsh cans the have are like this. One large outdoor can and then a large wire box for extra trash(poorly made at that). She has 3 dogs that keep on getting in the trash and I would love to know of what spary or deterant she can use to keep them away. I'm sad to say she is getting so fed up with them she going to do something stupid, so please if anyone has any information on any products or solutions please let me know. These are owned animals allowed to run loose. Pleanty of loose animals cause of the lack of traffic.

This dog is like specifically breed so that its skull is not completly formed or somthing like that. Its called an applehead chihuahua. Anyway, its 10 weeks old and we want it to get potty trained as soon as possible.... For now were using newspaper... When is it alright for him to go outside and use the grass.???

I have a five month old daschund whom I love more than life itself! The problem is that I feel his normal puppy nipping and biting has escalated over the two months I have owned him. His nipping and biting is becoming ferocious and he growls when he does it. At first I simply tried replacing my hand or ankle with an appropriate chew toy but he won't accept toys when he jumping and lunging at my hand or foot. I then tried yelling ow whenever he bit me and leaving the room for a few minutes. This was useless as his nipping and agressive biting has increased. I have finally resorted to holding his snout and saying "no biting" very firmly. When I do this he growls and as soon as i let my hand go he lunges at me again. I really love my puppy but his nipping is so bad. I work from home and he has plenty of play time every day. Anyone have any advice from a frazzled mom?

My friend had baby Boxer pups. She said she had to get their tails clipped in the first day or so. Why is this necessary or is it? I know clipping ears is comesmetic and not necessary, are the tails too? If so, or not, what are the reasons for it? (P.S. She didn't know either.)

I've heard that it's better to wait a few hours and then wash them so the water doesn't help the spray absorb into the skin... it's just really cold out and I feel bad. Also, I know to use vinegar, baking soda dish soap and peroxide does any one have any other suggestions?????

My daschund is a 3 year old female. She has this soft toy bone with a squeaker in it that she has suddenly started carrying around. Its not the carrying around that concerns me. She licks it, carrys it, cuddles with it and snaps and at anyone that trys to take it away from her. This is the second time she has done this, the first time I just took the toy away from her and didnt allow her to have it until she got over it. But this time I am worried that she is not eating and I havent seen her go for any water either. Why is she doing this and what should I do?

my wheaten terrier is almost one and has been acting very naughty

she keeps on chewing everything-fallen papers, remotes, rabbit bedding, and she just chewed my mom phone. we try to supply the house with chew toys-but she breaks most of them-all she has is a kong toy and a nylabone-which sometimes she gets bored with. what can i do to stop this chewing problem (dont say hit her please)

another problem is that when we try to brush her she wont remain calm and snaps at us-anyway to get her to behave well when we brush her?

thank you and please help!

We just brought our newborn home and one of my dogs seems very protective of our baby and whines a lot like she is trying to see where the baby is at. She growls at anyone who approaches the baby. What do I do to stop this? Or do I not worry? My other dog is content with just sniffing and trying to lick the baby. they are both very curious.

My dog keeps throwing up even after the vet provided special canned dog food; what should I do? He apparently has a liver problem, and on his bloodwork, he has an abnormally high amount of a liver enzyme called "Alkaline Phosphatase"; he has 991 H when the average should be 10-84. :(

I have just bought an 18month old English Bulldog. He will use the house as his bathroom if you don't take him outside. I would like to know what is the most RELIABLE way to housetrain an adult dog to "hold it in" until he gets outside. I've been using the "crate" technique the last week or so, its worked except for ONE time when he mass a HUGE mess in his bed. He has been fine since then. But i would like o know what is the opinion of the "experts" here. Also how LONG do you think it should take for him to be FULLY housetrained?

I would like to purchase a Puggle in about 6 months. I have started researching breeders but am overwhelmed by the amount, and question whether or not the majority of them are humane. How do I go about finding a good breeder in the Midwest? Also, are pocket/toy puggles healthy dogs?

They itch ALOT! The vet gave us a cream and told us to put a flea collar on and give them cough syrup to beat the allergic reaction they are having. Its not working! What is it? And what do I do?
