If you think about it, and really watch the action of a mini, I think you will realize that the higher energy level would be hard to handle in a Giant Schnauzer. I don't think you would be happy with a dog that large having the energy of the mini.

Miniature Schnauzers have a different temperament than the Giant or Standard Schnauzer. If you're looking for the Mini temperament in a Giant body, you'll likely be disappointed. The Giants and Standards are still much more "work" oriented, while the Minis have developed more of a "companion" temperament.

i am a gromer and every single giant schnauzer i have groomed has some sort of problem. they have issues with being touched in certain areas. like their feet. thay don't want to stand still on the table for me. i really thought that it was the owners who kept it crated all the time. until one day i saw a dog show that showed behind the scene stuff. they showed a giant schnauzer getting accupunture to calm it down before a show.
they have shown aggression to other dogs, and to certain people too. seem to be very high strung.
the miniature schnauzer seems to be perfect in every way. try looking in to the standard schnauzer. there aren't too many of them around. so chances of bad breeding are slimmer. i've seen 1 in my 5 yrs at a very upscale spa for dogs. and he was the grandson of an AKC champion. what a sweetie. no issues at all

Giant schnauzers are designed to be working dogs and need a job to do. They are not really the same.

my friend had a giant one and although he was nice as a young dog, he became highly territorial and nasty as he got older. the little ones are yappy, but probably have a better temperment.
