For my sister. What can she use to keep dogs out of her trash?

My sister lives in a very very small farming town. I mean SMALL. The trsh cans the have are like this. One large outdoor can and then a large wire box for extra trash(poorly made at that). She has 3 dogs that keep on getting in the trash and I would love to know of what spary or deterant she can use to keep them away. I'm sad to say she is getting so fed up with them she going to do something stupid, so please if anyone has any information on any products or solutions please let me know. These are owned animals allowed to run loose. Pleanty of loose animals cause of the lack of traffic.

i would strongly recommend cayenne pepper. you can get a huge shaker of it for like $3 at the grocery store and it works great. i had the same problem with chewing on cupboard edges and furniture and eating and digging in the trash - NOTHING worked. not scolding or catching my dog in the act, not the bitter spray i bought at petsmart. i mixed cayenne pepper with water, brushed it on the cabinets, she got just a whiff of it and hasn't touched either since. good luck!

I know of no spray or deterant for a situation like this. I've used tobasco sauce but it doesn't last long. I've tried red peppers but they won't adhere to the lids.

I'd say develop a better top and bungi cord to keep the lid in place. Other than that, buy a different trash container or go to the city (or town) council and ask them to do something about it.

Try a cayenne pepper mix. Also, try a motion activated toy, something that will make noise when they get in there.

keep the trash inside until trash day then put ti out right before pick-up time.

i think of the element of do is to swap the lock assembly on the door and shop the door closed throughout the day. plenty greater common then shifting bins, chairs and so on in front of the door.

i think its called sour apple spray, i know walmart has some sort of spray that you could use
