The siberian husky is a running dog, that is all the dog was bred to do and if you don't run or jog or have a huge fenced yard don't even think about it. Temperment is fair, they can be a bit stand offish of people they don't know.
The Malamute is much mellower, great temperment good with familys and kids. Needs exercise, but not a huge amount, is happy to spend most of the day shedding on your rug looking cute.
German shepards can be fantastic dogs to psyco's, they have good temperments if you have the puppys temperment tested for what you are expecting. Very smart, natural protector, fine with family's and kids if the dog is trained and socialized right from the begining.
I personally would get the German shepard of the 3 you listed because of intellegence and training ease. But I'd only get a puppy that came from parents with good tempers, and I'd have it temperment tested for moderate domanance traits.

I personally like the German Shepherd; they are very intelligent and will not roam like a Husky and a Malamute would.
But if you enjoy sledding, skjording (cross country skiing with your dog tied to your waist) the Husky and the Malamute would be great at that sport/activity
All three breeds will thrive on activities such as Agility.
Meet all three breeds and the breeders and make the decision based on what your intentions are with the new additions to your family

All seem like good dogs. Just keep in mind if you live somewhere really warm the husky and malamute might have trouble with the heat. German Shephards are good, but are full of energy and need alot of training... Good luck.

German Shepard all the way! They are the best dogs that walk the planet. Extra smart too! Huskys and Malamutes are too agressive and tend to get out a lot.

Alaskan Malamute, they are wonderful dogs (my opinion) , here is some information on each dogs character:
Siberian Husky: This breed is independent with a mind of its own, it is very intelligent, full of energy, cheerful, loves to wander, and is very fond of the owner and family. Because this breed likes to make friends with everyone, it is not an ideal watchdog.
Alaskan Malamute: This is an affectionate dog which is intelligent, loyal, friendly, and noble, but it can have a mind of it's own. It will never slavishly follow your whims. This breed learns quite quickly and has tremendous stamina.
German Shepard: This very intelligent and eager pupil is an obedient, sociable, and friendly dog that is temperamental, brave, protective, alert, attentive, self-assured, independent, and unconditionally loyal towards its owner and family.
Hope this was Helpful. :) :)

Try a Newfoundland dog - I promise you wont be disappointed but if I had to choose I would choose the Malamute. I would choose a Malamute because of its strength and beauty. The shepherd, unless you get a pup from a really good line you may find you have alot of health problems. Huskies are way too energetic for me. Good luck.

it depends on how u will b using it (pet or work, etc.) and what qualities u want it to have. if u want a nice loyal dog that is a lil big, the husky is a good choice. also, they often frequently have beautiful white coats. I prefer german shephards becuase they are great for anything. they have EXCELLENT temperment adn r known for being one of the most unlikely dog to turn on its owner. they are great for herding (i dont know how that would benefit you), they are excellent at security, GREAT AROUND CHILDREN AND OTHER PEOPLE IN GENERAL!!!! and they are very strong. another important thing to look at is that they do not have many health tendencies i.e. there are not many "diseases" that are common in this breed. all the way, german shephard is one of the best dogs a person could have. hands down.

If you are a profesional trainer get a Husky or a Malamute. Otherwise the German shepard is a better choise. Better yet would be to get a mutt with some shepard in it.

i would recommend getting the german shephard... since i take it that you live in nebraska, the german shephard is going to be better able to handle the warm humid summers that you have, as well as the cold winters.. a husky or malamute is going to be extremely uncomfortable outdoors in the summer, although they certainly are capable of living well south of the arctic
also, if you arent extremely experienced with dogs, you may find yourself having problems controlling some of the behavioral problems that some huskys and malamutes are prone to.. both dogs are not very far from their wolf ancestors and many people find themselves having problems controlling the slightly more aggressive nature of these dogs.. they will try to achieve(and will gladly accept) the role of the alpha in your group.. and once a dog has established themself in this role, it can be a difficult challenge to remove them from their post
i think i may also be slightly biased towards the sheps simply because i have had many of these wonderful dogs
