Get a spouse/friend/child to put the original dog on a leash and put the NEW dog on a leash as well............. let them slowly get used to each other from a distance. Your dogs are both young so hopefully will be OK, but if the "original" dog has issues with sharing his/her space, then just do this slowly. Remember that dogs are pack animals and it may take a few days for the new puppy to be welcomed into the "pack of 2". If you're crate training the new pup, or putting her in the bathroom or something, it will be easier as the "alpha" dog won't feel as threatened by the new rival.
Best of luck!

I did this same thing with my dog about the same age as yours. I brought home a new puppy to her. is your dog a girl or a boy? I didnt have any problems with my dog.I just made sure that each dog had their own bed, toys, bowls and just gave them a chance to get to know each other. Stay with them for a while. You dont want to just leave the puppy with the 13 month old until you are sure they are going to be ok. My dog tended to be a little aggressive at first and dont freak out if yours is too. My dog just had to make sure that the puppy knew that she was head of the household so she was aggressive at first. The thing is mine was aggressive the first two or three days, but I always watched to make sure she wasnt hurting the puppy and she never did even though to me it looked like she might be thepuppy didnt seem to upset by it.

I hate to break it to you but at 13 months, he's a full grown dog and not a puppy any more. Take the same things you'd take to bring a dog home.

let them decide, dogs know more about their own communications than we do and they will establish dominance within the "pack"
