They itch ALOT! The vet gave us a cream and told us to put a flea collar on and give them cough syrup to beat the allergic reaction they are having. Its not working! What is it? And what do I do?

Go see another vet. Your vet is not addressing the problem. He needs to do allergy testing to find the cause. It could be something as simple as changing the dog food. We feed our chihuahuas Nutro Natural Choice and the dogs love it and have beautiful coats and are very healthy.

Allergies can be quite tricky. I suggest experimenting with different foods if the flea treatments haven't helped. (Frankly, I've never known flea collars to help. In years past I recall seeing fleas SITTING ON the flea collar without any apparent discomfort. Maybe they're better now, but from what I can tell they're the same.)

Your pups may be allergic to things in the air, just like humans, too. Benadryl can relieve the itching temporarily but doesn't cure it.

I think food allergies are something to consider. Change to a food with no corn, and different proteins... consider venison or lamb foods with no corn or wheat. It's hard to find a food without chicken in it, but some dogs are allergic to chicken- even in lamb dog foods you often see the first ingredient is chicken.

If you're willing to cook for your dogs you might see some big improvements. You can find diet recipes for dogs with allergies online.

Try benadryl as others stated...a half or quarter pill each. If that does not work...

Go back to the vet...are you sure they do not have mange???

Oatmeal shampoo baths help and so does adding some meat to their diet. check out veterainarysecertsrevealed.com
