Besides the obvious feeding, watering, and letting them outside. No fussy dogs that have to be brushed all the time. No dogs that require constant supervision. Definitely no yappy dogs.

I have a 2 year old spayed boxer and all of a sudden she started having what i would describe as abdominal contractions, meaning she was thightening her stomach and stretching her legs at the same time every 5 sec. We also noticed she was tucking her tail, which is weird, we even call her scorpio" because it was always up.

That was yesterday, today we took her to the vet and he said she might have eaten something that made her sick, she was given 3 shots: for parasites, pain and one was a mix of vitamins-
As of right now im still worried because she is keeping her tail tucked and at moments she sits and bites it or tries to lick it, and i tried to check it out but she wouldn't let me, as soon as i touch it she turns around rapidly and takes off my hand with her mouth.

Has this ever happened to anyone? What is your guess? I dont know about the vet, he doesnt seem to know what it is.
Of course if she doesnt seem better as of tomorrow i will take her to another vet...

I'm keeping her in her crate as much as possible and taking her out for short lead walks. She takes ages to do a wee. Will that improve with time? She's not bothering with her stitches which will be removed next Tuesday. Can I give her a little more freedom yet?

He is around 8-10yrs old. He is a mixed breed but would consider him a big dog, maybe a German Shepeard/Golden Retriever mix? I am afraid that one of these times he won't be able to get back up! Any suggestions?

He is 12 weeks old and wants to sleep on my lap ALL DAY LONG! As much as I love this adorable little guy, he is driving me nuts! The moment I sit down, he wants to be on my lap. I can lay him next to me with my arm on him and he will fall asleep, but the moment I get up, he wakes up and is under foot. I've stepped on him twice today, poor little guy. I bought him a cozy little bed and "pup tent" to sleep in at night. I lay him in it and he freaks out. So I put my arm in there with him and get him to fall asleep, but the moment I move away from him he wakes up and starts freaking out again. We go through this every night. So I get him to sleep and then close the door, but by the time I get to my bedroom, he is already crying. I let him cry for almost 30 minutes last night, but then I couldn't handle it anymore. I need him to sleep by himself both day and night. He is asleep on my lap RIGHT NOW!!! Please help.

I live in Central California and just got the cutest puppy, small mixed breed. He is 12 weeks old and has not had any shots yet. This is my first dog, because growing up, my sister was very allergic to them and we were never allowed to have any pets. Fortunately, he is about 90% potty trained, but I really have no idea on how to choose a vet or at what age to get his shots and have him neutered. I already know that he cannot eat any people food, but beyond that, any advice from experienced dog lovers would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Our dog is on her first menstruation cycle and the vet will not fix her until its over. She has been bleeding for 10 days going on 11 and I am going crazy! Is this normal? Everyone says that the bleeding only lasts 7 days and thats what the vet said too but she is still bleeding. Its also still bright red. Should I be concerned and at what point do I need to take her back to the vet? She has a diaper but blood is still getting all over my carpet, walls and floor. Any one else go through this or know if this is normal? She is a German Shepherd.

I heard on the Today show that the dog belongs to Bill Cosby, and it won the terrier group. I'm convinced the whole thing is a sham now. The judges are a bunch of starf*****s.
