Females should wait until 2 years old, and males should wait until at least 18 months...You didn't tell us what breed she is. The breed that I raise are not mature until 3 years old, so I never breed earlier.

Reasons for waiting until 2 years:
Any genetic defects she may carry will not be likely to show up until 2 years..such as cataracts, luxating patellas, dysplastic hips, etc.

If she is allowed to fully develop before the puppies take her own essential nutrients, she will have better skeletal health as she reaches middle age and old age..reduced chance for early arthritis, etc.

If allowed to be a puppy for the first two years, she will be a better mom to her puppies.

Did she thrive being a mom or conflict....fairly, your vet will be the most ideal to make this decision. once you're uncertain...Our vet advise that that is alright to reproduce each and every warmth cycle at the same time as they are youthful yet through age 4 we ought to continually breed another cycle and retire at the same time as they turn 6...i imagine besides the undeniable fact that that is relies upon on the guy mom. If she's again to known weight or a touch more beneficial and is completely healthy, that is possibly alright to reproduce her again....if she's nonetheless "convalescing" from her first muddle (no longer as a lot as weight, coat no longer again to pre being pregnant difficulty, etc....you would watch for her next cycle....that is tremendous to get your vet enthusiastic about your breeding software..

In the smaller breeds you can breed as early as the 2nd season. In your larger breeds such as the German Shepherd you would want to wait till they are at least 15 months as their joints are not fully developed prior to that time... AND you would not want to contribute to hip dysplacia

GOOD LUCK.

Never breed on their first season they are far too young. Wait until her next season (approx 6 months time)
