I have taken my dog to training classes and generally his behaviour is good. when i go to bed or go out i shut him in the kitchen with a box full of toys. lately he has started chewing the dining chairs, only a bit but every day. I think i will get covers for them but he'll probably chew the table then. Any suggestions?!

I have a male applehead and a female deerface chihuahua. They mated and had three puppies 17 weeks ago, we are keeping. I was just curious about something. I baby is an applehead, 1 is a deerface, 1 does is not quite an applehead and not quite a deerface. Is it possible that he's half and half? No sarcastic answers please! Thanks and Happy New Year!

I think I heard that on Sky News and that the owner had previously been warned about not keeping it under control.
What a horrendous start to 2007 for that family.

What is it going to take for dog owners to start picking up after their dogs? They constantly harp on about it being just the minority of dog owners but we all know that this cannot be the case purely on the amount of dog foul that is left.
Please dont reply and tell me how YOU always pick up after your dog, because this post is not directed at you. What i want to know is, as dog owners yourselves, what do you feel we need to do to give our children a safe/clean environment and to stop these idiots from ruining your reputation as responsible dog owners?

I dislike using processed flours in my dog's food, but am having trouble finding a recipe for biscuits that does not use it. I already give treats that are made up of oatmeal and other ingredients, but I plan on making cookie-cutter biscuits for my dog's birthday, so I need to make my own.

Royal icing is made up of powdered sugar, egg whites or meringue powder (I use meringue powder as it's safer), vanilla or other flavor extract, and water. Also, glycerin is added to help with the consistency. It's perfectly safe for people to eat, and besides the sugar content, is it safe for dogs to eat as well?

Our dog seems to have some intestinal pain and recently chewed and ate a rawhide bone. She had some other symptoms as well, such as a little bit of drool and her eyes were watering, but only for a short period of time.

I have a two year old pug and he has vomited 6 times in the past two hours. Theres no food in it, its just a yellow frothy consistency (sorry if I just grossed you out) He didnt want to eat his breakfast this morning and he hasnt eaten anything unusual or any human food at all. I'm not sure what I should do. I can call the vet tommorow if it keeps happening but I'd rather not call today unless its an emergency. Any suggestions on what I should do?

My rat terrier/chihuhua wentin to heat on Dec. 8, 2006. Its now the new year. Today she wont eat or drink and is attacking my new pup. Vets not open today. Thought about paging him. She really has me worried cause she seems to be bleeding heavier. Does anyone know if this is normal for a small breed or should i page the vet?

i have a male jack russell... he is coming up to be 12years old soon...

when he was young he was always very healthy and active. but as he has got older he has become lazier and has slept more throughout the day..

usually when he needs a wee he would stand by the back door to our garden or scratch on it.

whats concerning me is... recently, he doesnt bother to stand by the door.. he will just stand on the spot and wee right infront of us all... sometimes he cocks his leg up as normal... but sometimes he just stands there and wees as a female would.

when he does this we put him outside and make sure he wees out there, while we clean up inside.

he also seems to be drinking more water now too..

anyone have an idea why? Please help...

we have a going on 15 yr old Eng Springer Spaniel, Holly. Shes a lovely old gal, and has aged graefully. Shes my husbands dog. she can see fine, her coat looks good but how do we know if she has a quality life? She has urinary incontinence, and at times can not control her BM's. she had a complete mastectomy due to breast cancer last year. Her legs are stiff when she walks especially 1 back legs and some times she shivers or trembles, I dont think its that she is cold. When she is up, she at times seems disoriented as to where she is. She wants to be with right beside her daddy all the time now, and is up n down all night constantly wanting him for something, he gets up over 5-6 times a night, she doesnt want to go out but just stands there wanting him to be near and I think he is just getting ehausted himself. Ive had been opposed to euthanasia i felt just let them go on their on, but i am not for prolonging suffering. what does this seem like to those who have expericened similar ?

our dog has been diagnosed and is being treated for heartworms, his last 2 injections to kill the woems was 3 wks ago. 2 days ago he started coughing I called the vet and told me to give him cough medicine, but today he was not eating and breathing really fast and had no energy and had a fever. Is this a bad sign ? I left him at the vet today also so they can put an iv and give him a steroid shot and they had me leave him over night. Does anyone know if he will be ok after thi ?

mutt.

I will try to understand that the cat is from Venus and I am from Mars.

I will no longer be beholden to the sound of the can opener.

I will circulate petition that Leg Humping be a juried competition in major dog shows.

l will call PETA and tell them what that surgical mask-wearing freak does to us when no one is around.

I will take time from busy schedule to stop and smell the behinds.

I will always scoot before licking.
I will grow opposable thumb; break into pantry; decide for MYSELF how much food is too much.

I will NOT chase the damned stick unless I see it LEAVE HIS HAND.
========================================
Wish you all a Happy and prosperous New Year for 2007..
