My poodle puppy is breathing weird. She is alittle over 12 weeks old and is up to date on all her shots. Her nose is wet and cold, she is eating well and acting fine. My concern is I can't really explain it but I will trying. She isn't coughing but she makes these weird noises like an owl and when she barks its like she has to catch her breath. Its sounds like when we have built up fluid in our lungs and when you breathe you make that crackling noise. She also snores bad. Help?

I wanted to name my dog "Bob." Is there anything I should avoid? What about syllables? Is it better to have 1 or more than 1? Do dogs recognize certain names more?

This evening, my dog - an almost 3 year old male pug - peed on my sofa. He is completely potty trained and has not had an accident in the house in over a year so this is unusual behavior. I also discovered that he had pooped in the other room - which makes it even more troubling!

He has dealt with a lot of change lately:
1. He was recently boarded for a week with a relatively new vet - he has not been boarded very often, but has not ever acted out after returning home.
2. I recently got a new puppy - a female pug.

He had just been outside where I watched him pee and poop. Then he came in and him and the new puppy played for about 15 minutes (they appear to like each other - there has been no aggression) and then he just stopped playing and started peeing.

I have two thoughts:
1. This is a reaction to the new puppy, or anger from the boarding or
2. Bladder infection from the boarding

What do you think? Any advice? Should I make a vet appt?

I walk my dog all the time. She loves to meet other dogs. However, she gets overexcited when she sees other dogs and sometimes wines when she can't go meet them. She begins to jump and wants to play with other dogs. Sometimes the other owner, doesn't want their dog to be greeted. I am just curious to ask why does she continue to do this, and how can I solve her little problem?

I have read that temp needs to be taken for at least 3 min but the therm. that I use reads and stops in 60sec. Also a rectal temp is usually 1 degree higher in humans is it this way for dogs too? Or do I take the temp for face value of what it says. I am using a digital therm.

We have indoor cats and want a companion dog. We like the full size Yorkies. We have a 3 yr son and he loved playing with them.
Should I get One or Two? Or stagger them a few years?
Its just for a pet- they will be spayed. I think a female would be good? Any owners any ideas>

I have a sheltie female who has been due in season/heat for about 2 months (so she is late) and recently had a urinary tract infection. we started her on antibiotics 2 days ago and today I had her on the table to get a urine sample, while I was feeling for her bladder, I felt 2 lumps about the size of walnuts.
First thought was stool, but I did a rectal and she was empty, second thought was bladder stone, but it was too big for her bladder, Third thought was that she had a silent heat and was bred by my stud male and these are puppies.
I need to know if I should get an x-ray, an ultrasound, or a pregnancy test, cause if the pregnancy test is negative I still don't know what it is, but If i get an ultrasound or x-ray, will the vet be able to tell if its a puppy or something else? Which test should I get, I can't get all of them, I'm a college student not made of money and please don't give me any stupid answers about how I shouldn't own dogs, I care for my dogs, I'm just not rich.

We just lost our dog last week. He had meny health issues. We spent thousands on vet bills and although we don't expect issues with a new puppy, we would prefer to be prepared. You can't just sign up for the insurance when you have a problem.

Thanks for any help!

A few weeks ago I was walking to the library and there was a dog on leash going with a walk with his owner. This dog looked like it wanted to bite me and came close to me. However, it didn't bite me. As I passed it, I looked back to see that the dog was currently pulling on some flower and the owner was trying to drag the dog to get it to walk. I am worried that the dog may have gotten saliva on me and that I may have consumed it. ( I bought some snacks in the library and ate them) Is this likely and is the dog rabid or not?

A year ago, I left home to live with my sister and her two dogs so i could go to college. While I was away, he died. He was my best friend for many years since I was a young girl. Now when I see my sister's two dogs (they are the same breed but different color), I feel resentment and disappointment. I often want to trade them in for my dog that passed away. I know it's not right and it's not their fault, but I can't help but feel so sad inside. Please help.
