It began as a small spot about the size of a dime and now about a month later is about the size of a nickel. Last night we found another small area near his fron leg. He does seem to scratch at it. He is going to the vet tomarrow but I wanted to get some info on mange since I don't know much about it. The skin is intact. Does'nt mange cause blistering and the skin to open and weep? Also, how do they get it? He is up to date on all shots and otherwise very healthy. Any suggestions or info? Thanks!

I have a malamute from Alaska who is approx 8 months old. For 1 week now she has been very sick with some form of unknown ailment. Vet said he did not know.. She has very high fever and acts as if back end of her had sustained some form of injury but I am sure she has not. She has been shedding quite alot and it is the dead of winter here. I also noticed tonight it looks like her pads on all paws is coming off which would explain her not wanting to get up and walk unless absolutely necessary. Any ideas?

Our family has never had a dog and we are thinking of getting one. The kids are almost all out of the house and it's just my wife and me. I am concerned I will get "stuck" with all the work. Is it really worth it? The family wants an Alaskan Malmute.

ok my beagle is, well....fat. i still love her, but she getting on up in her years & when she sits she sits really slow & i know the extra weight is not helping. i even took her to the vet & he gave us some diet dog food. she lost about 4-5 pounds & then she would gain it back. i have her back on her regular dog food & i give her about a half a cup in the mornings & a half at night. she lost 10 pounds during the summer. but now shes gaining it back. i was wondering if i could give her anything like eggs or rice that could help her lose weight, you know something less fatty than dog food cuz thats really not working! do u know anything that i could give her?

For some reason she will not stop "going" in my house!!!!
I take her out, and when its nice, she stays out for a little while, then, as soon as i let her in the house, she goes and pees or poos in my house!! I have caught her when she is doing it, tell her NO, and put her outside, it doesn't work.
We have been at this since I got her 4 months ago.
She is kennel trained at night, but i cant leave her locked up all day! She will go when she is outside, then comes in and goes inside again!

PLEASE please help....
can anyone give me some pointers on this????
I am doing everything I know to do, I watch her, she seems to wait 'til i look away, or something to go do it.

my appartment is small, and i don't have a lot of room, or i would keep her in the kitchen or something, but its not really possible to close it off.

I REALLY need help, or I am going to have to give her up. I cant have her ruining the carpet in the appartment!

I have a female Rottweiler who is almost 2 years old. I went on vacation last week after leaving my dog with a friend. I was gone for 10 days.

My friend told me my dog was sick. Throwing up, bloody stool, not wanting to go outside, not eating, etc. I told him to take her to the vet immediately. He didn't.

So, I come home from vacation and my dog is about 30 pounds lighter!! She looked like a skeleton. I took her to the Pet ER without delay.

The vet told me it was either Parvo or Intestinal parasites, and said further tests would be needed but performed neither of these tests (I didn't have enough cash on me, but promised I would run home while they tested my dog. They didn't believe me.)

They just shoved my sick dog back to me. She is puking, has bloody stools, won't eat, won't drink, and is losing more and more weight everyday.

They couldn't care less. They just wanted my $82 emergency fee. Why be a vet if you don't even care about animals?

What could be wrong with her? Worms?

We are used to dogs shedding by all means but it's been so long since we've had a puppy.
Are lab is 4 months 2 weeks old and is blowing his coat.
We brush him with the Furminator which helped tremendously... BUT... we heard that the first shedding of a puppy is the worst... is that true or a old wives tale?

ok i want to help these 3 dogs that came up in my yard. there was 2 girls & 1 boy. 1 girl is very pregnant & will have puppies very soon, the other girls paw is hurt, & the boy is very protective of them (not aggresive). the dog with the hurt paw (cocoa) is really hiper & loves to play but she will not put her hind paw on the ground. the dog that is pregnant (missy) is very skiddish & if i move to fast she jumps & runs. the boy (jack) is very playful but if i make 1 of the girls scared or anything he runs in front of them. i really like them(u can kinda tell cuz i named em) but cannot keep them. i think they belong to someone cuz theyre not skinny & jack has a collar on but it doesnt have a name on it. i really want to help them without keeping them or taking them to a vet. what could i do to help cocoas paw & help missy with her pregnancy & Jack?

This time it was a pit-bull, in September a baby was killed by two rottweilers. Usual suspects I'm afraid. Whilst the vast majority of owners of these two breeds are probably responsible people, the fact is that both these dog types can become lethally dangerous without ANY provocation. I'd like to see these breeds phased out as pets and no new ones sold. I also insist that ANYONE who has ANY breed of dog that becomes unnecessarily dangerous due to owner neglect should go to prison. Then things might sink into their THICK heads. No disrespect is intended to responsible owners. So should we imprison?, and should we phase out dangerous breeds?

She won't eat / drink an if she attempts it, it immediately (w/in 10 mins) comes right back up. She has no energy, an she won't get up to go to bathroom. Wherever she's at she pees. She don't even attempt to sit up or move. We go to move her, cause she's weak, an u notice that she's pee-ed. This has only been goin' on today. LN she seemed like her usual self. She didn't ingest anythin' poisonous or harmful to her. Can anyone help w/ suggestions?

My beloved female chocolate lab is 15. Recently she has become resistant to getting up to go outside to so her business. I sometimes have to carry her. She is eating and drinking. I have had her since she was three years old and love her very much, but don't want her to suffer. I don't think she is in pain except for when she doesn't want to walk. Dog lovers and dog experts....what do you think?
