My new puppy settled in well at first but for the last two nights has taken particular exception to being in his crate for the nights sleep. He can sleep through without wetting the crate as he did this for the first three nights without complaint.

He is definitely anxious about being apart from us as he crys as soon as we go into another room without him. I have been strict so that he does not get into any other rooms and so cannot follow me about.

I haven't left the house without him yet and think I should probably start to do this very gradually so that he gets used to us not being around for short periods.

There is a lot of conflicting advice around saying that you should have them in the room for the first few nights but others saying not because they will then never want to leave. I tried leaving a radio on which had a small effect. I will also try the ticking clock.

I guess most the advice says to leave him to bark his way through it but my neighbours will hate me!

I brought my 10 week old German Shepherd home 5 days ago and he's used to being free-fed all day and night. I'd like him to eat 3 times a day when I put his food down but he takes 1-2 hours sometimes to finish a serving. I hate to take it away from him because he's a few lbs. underweight right now. Any ideas?

For the past 3 nights after I put my dog to sleep in her crate she breaks out in the middle of the night. She has never done this before and it worries me. Is she trying to tell me something or is this normal and I should just get a new crate?

five year old ,ellie lawrenson was killed by adog described as a pitbull like and her gran was seriously injured.
it makes you wonder how long its going to be before another child gets killed and the government clamps down on bad owners. dogs are not born evvil or dangerous its how they are raised and taught to behave, that determins their actions isnt it?

..I asked this question last week and pointed out, among other things, that dogs come with a formidable array of teeth, just the thing for ripping the fact from a toddler. This point was fiercely contested by dog owners with the consensus of opinion being that a dog will attack only if provoked.

How do these dog owners now feel in the light of the tragic news of a beautiful little girl killed by a ‘harmless and loving dog’ ?

To be clear; dogs are wolves bred to look cuddly but wolves nonetheless.

This being so, I believe all dogs/wolves should be destroyed without delay...what do you think?

posted recently about change of job and difficulty keeping up with exercise routine of my border collie, some people suggested dog walkers and others suggested another dog, thanks to all for the advice. We have been considering the option of another dog, to keep Alfie company and occupied etc. my husband has said that if we decide to go for another he would rather that they are based outside, we would obviously provide warm and comfortable living conditions for them, however i have never really liked the idea of a dog living outside, do any of you think it is cruel or would it be ok. (and before anyone asks they would not be put out there and forgotton about, they would still be well looked after and loved)
