Help, why does my dog bark at nothing and all the time?

I got a 2.4yr old pup, kelpie x german shepherd. She constantly barks at nothing and everything in particular. Does anyone have any advice on what I can to do to stop her barking so much?

Dogs usually bark because their bored or trying to get attention. I had a similar problem with my Great DaneX although hers was barking and howling every time we left her alone! I tried a lot of things but the thing that worked the best was giving her something to do in the back yard. Kong balls, squeaky toys and the most successful, bones to chew on! I get packets of off cuts from my butcher and whenever we go out I throw out half a dozen bones for her to chew on and she keeps quiet as far as I know. at least we don't get complaints from the neighbours anymore! Also being that your dog is German shepxkelpie, both very intelligent breeds maybe taking her to agility training may work. These dogs are highly intelligent and love a challenge so this may help with the whole barking because I'm bored scenario. Another thing that may help depending on your circumstances is getting her a friend to play with, if she has someone to play with she won't be bored, not a puppy, maybe a dog a Little younger or same age there are a lot dogs that need homes at the animal shelters and I'm sure you will be able to find a suitable match for her, and it doesn't cost hundreds of dollars to rescue one of these dogs!

Find what motivates your dog. Some dogs do anything for food. Some dogs do anything for Toys. Some do anything for a good petting. Some do anything for only one type of food, like cheese, or hotdog. well first it's their breed. you should have researched it before getting her. second she might be bored. take her for long walks at least twice daily a tired dog won't stay up and bark. second enroll her in a training class it will help you bond with her, build her confidence and teach her that you are her leader. i've found most dogs aside from their breed instincts to bark, even will bard constantly when they are bored or insecure. these are easily fixed problems if you are commited and consistant.
