My dog injured his leg over a month ago and he has become very aggressive. He is now a very scared dog and snaps over anything at any time. He now hates his walks. He bit my boyfriends face and his still snapping. He is not eating anymore. Because he is a pit bull i fear that if he does bite someone i will be forced to put him down. I love him but I belive he is in pain from is injury and feels vurnable. No pain meds help him and (The vet is just runnin me around with this test and that) I dont know what to do with him or what is in his best intrest. Keep him and risk it, give him up to more expericed hands where he could be put to sleep in the end or put him him to sleep myself to end his pain or fear of living. HELP

she will lick my hand and after a while she will start to chew/nibble with her front teeth like she does when she grooms herself!! i want to know if this is normal, does anyone else have experiences like this? does it mean she thinks we are higher or lower in the pack ranking to her? i assume it does mean she thinks she is part of the pack so to speak!!
thanks any info would be great!

At first my family wanted a mutt, a yorkie/shih-ztu mix, but was told that that mix is unpredictable, and that we can't really depend on them to be the same as another one we may have seen, so we've settled on researching yorkies.

So, what are yorkies like?

Are they easy to train, are they loving and playful?

Would they be good for a family of four, with a twelve year old and a fifteen year old that have friends over often?

Are they territorial?

Do they have tendencies to be timid or social,

and are they okay with littler kids?

(We have very small cousins that visit sometimes, and we often have get togethers for our church, and their are a lot of little kids that come with their families.)

just to let some people know, the information from most was very helpful, thank you, and to the rude people out there asking why i have an animal and on benefit its becasue i have a disabled son and the dog was a puppy when we got her eight years ago, so she has been good for him, also i dont work not becasue i dont want to but becasue i get carers for looking after my son. please dont judge peeople until you know the facts.

I have a 6 month old, male, miniature dachshund. I would like to get another one so he can have someone to play with, he is a very loving and sweet puppy so far he gets along pretty well with other dogs, unless the other dog doesnt like him or finds him annoying and too playful. But I dont know if I should get a male or female? I want them to be friends, not mates. But how can I prevent this if i were to get a female? Do you think it would be okay to get a male, or will they act territorial? And if I wanted to get another breed of dog, how will I know what type is best so they will get along?

We had to board our dog maggie at the vet this past week and a half, and when we came back she was overly excited and looked like she had lost some weight. Should we be worried?

I have a 10 week old Jack Russel Terrier *****.
Recently she has started chewing anything she can get hold of including your face and hands. While she has hold of your hands she will growl and shake her head as if trying to tear a chunk out!
We've tried everything as punishment such as :
*Ignoring her and stopping the play
*Locking her in a room alone.
*Saying a firm NO.
*Distracting her with toys.
*And even holding her gently by the scruff of her neck.
But nothing seems to work. She just tries to snap at your face.
She seems to be acting really aggressive. Is this normal or is this the first signs of a aggressive dog?

Happy new year. I'm the mommy of Minnie, a normally happy nearly 3-year old Jack Russell Terrier (a 10-pounder). She is friendly and happy well up until she was biten on the snout by a nasty yorkie. The yorkie came up to her and Minnie sat next to him and let him sniff her then he came up to her snout and they were nose-to-nose. The yorkie started grunting and I got a bad feeling and the yorkie snapped and bit Minnie on the nose, she screeched. Then I screamed at the yorkie and he bit me! I used my shoe to get him away. The townhouse where the yorkie lived (no collar, no tags) had the windows open) and the owner, a retired lady who could barely walk) she called the dog home. She told me I was lying and that she saw the whole thing. it's true my dog was bigger than her yorkie but my dog didn't bite. My dog is very nice - she doesn't use her teeth to bite people or dogs. Now Minnie won't walk, she's scared of all dogs and I don't know what to do? Any ideas? This dog had so much life ..

my dog is called tia, she is a west highland white terrier, her best quality is how happy and excited she gets when you see her in the morning. Her backend goes mad wagging her whole body not just her tale. It takes me 20 minutes in the morning to be able to get up and make myself a cuppa as she wants my full attention and she deserves it

For the past few days, my dog seems to be limping a little and having difficulty going up the stairs. my father checked one of his hind paws and thought that one of his paw pads may have come off. He's a very hairy dog so its hard to see if one of his paw pads has really come off and he keeps struggling and refuses to let us check his hind paw. Is it possible for a paw pad to really come off? Whats the best thing to do now?

Serious answers pls.
