For almost half a century the 49th day (7 weeks) was considered the ideal day to rehome pups. Eight weeks has become the norm in the last fifteen years or so because it became possible to have their eyes CERF certified at that age.
TWELVE WEEKS IS TO LATE to rehome pups!!!!! Fear memory develops at that age!!!! So if you want a dog that is afraid of everything in your house,,, go right ahead and by all means get a twelve week old puppy!!!

NO sooner than 8 weeks, although 12 weeks is better for the puppies. Although they can be fully weaned much earlier than 8 weeks. The puppies learn a lot from their mother and from their litter mates about how to be a well balanced dog. Puppies that go too soon may have problems in relationships with other dogs. They may not learn good dog manners, or how to keep their bites gentle for play. So leave them with the mother as long as you can, but 12 weeks is ideal. In an ideal world, they should have had their vaccinations by then, and be able to go out and be socialised as soon as possible after they leave the mother. This is important as they are very receptive to new experiences at this age.

Usually a puppy can be sold at 8 weeks, but it's much better to wait until at least 12 weeks. The puppy will have a better temperament and a better personality. It also needs time to learn more things from it's Mom.

After 8 weeks, don't be fooled into thinking any earlier as they haven't got the teachings from their mothers and thats an important start in life

make sure that the puppy is fully weaned from mum and that it can eat solid food without having to much trouble. All so if you are adpoting a puppy check on their shots, and be sure to spay or neuter.
