Certainly I would think it would be possible for the pad to be injured to the point that a part of the pad would become detatched. Your dog should be taken to a veterinarian to have his paw checked, to prevent infection from setting in and creating a truly serious condition.

I would make sure there is nothing in the paw and put neosporin on it and wrap it in gauze then an elastic bandage and change the bandage once a day until it heals. trust me, she will be fine and you most likely won't have to take her to the vet. I personally do not understand why people freak out and take their dogs to the vet every time they sneeze, what did dogs do when there were no vets? Make sure she is comfortable and has lots to drink and eat, and try to keep her off of her feet as much as possible. I hope this helps! :)

it is not possible for a paw pad to come off but if your dog has been running on asphalt or concrete it will start to graze the dog will probably need a vet, just keep the dog in a room to sleep and relax then put a bit of ice on the paw that seems to bother the dog. just do that and it will heel.

Unless your dog wears shoes, anything that can happen to your foot can happen to his. A dog's pads are just thick skin. If your dog will not let you even look his paw, it's probably cause you are hurting it as you are trying to look at the paw. So I'm pretty sure he/she won't let you treat it either. Take him to your Vet! Depending on how bad it is, the paw may need;cleaning, shaving, disenfectant, ointment, a bandage and even antibiotics.

This happened to my golden retriever last summer! I thought he had torn it off on a sharp rock while swimming. The vet said that it could be a type of fungus infection and suggested I bathe his paws in a weak solution of chammomile extract to disinfect it, then apply a disinfectant cream. It did eventually go away after 2 or 3 days.

It's as possible as one of your fingers coming off. Some physical trauma could make it happen. Please go to your local vet and have him check it out, if your dog ishaving trouble (and is in pain).
