We had to board our dog maggie at the vet this past week and a half, and when we came back she was overly excited and looked like she had lost some weight. Should we be worried?

As a society just like our children we tend to over feed our pets. She may not have been fed as much as she was used to. Alos being in a facility often they lose a bit of their apetite.

Of course she was excited. How long had it been. My stupid dogs I can walk to the corner store and they act like I was gone for a week. Thats what dogs do they get excited.

No, don't worry!!!
Naturally, she's excited to see you b/c you've been away. You are probably the only family she knows...hence the excitement to see you return.

Separation anxiety probably caused her to eat less, this happens often. Dogs miss us like kids miss their parents.

Dogs also come back home hoarse from excessive barking. Sometimes dogs often shun us for a day or two after returning home as pay back for us leaving them at the Kennel.

They get over it fast and return back to life as usual.

I think she was probably really excited and missing you. Once you get her home , and things start getting back to normal, she should be fine. If you notice that she's still losing weight, then I would take her to your vet, and just have her checked out.

I would find out and ask if she had been out of her kennel alot to get exercise or just left in there the whole time. Is this a place that you have left the dog before that you trust? I would mention it though, especialy if she lost weight.

No not at all. Some dogs I know of 2 loved so much then given away & quit eating & got sicker & sicker then died of heartbreak. As long as she starts eating now that u r back she should be ok.

She was probably depressed and did not eat as much when you were gone. It happens alot when dogs are boarded. Next time, try an in home pet sitter...dogs are much happier when they can stay home.
