tracy dont be so narrow minded. any dog can turn. i didnt ask about dobermans temprement so keep it shut. in fact do some research on the breed before you shoot your mouth off. my dobe is very well trained and brought up with excellent parents.you are getting me mixed up with a scally who has these type of dogs for show.

your dog is probably treating your cat as his playmate since he's so young. doberman nudging missy with his nose is a sign of gentleness, and it meant that he has no ill intentions (like attacking it). in addition, i would say that he's sniffing just like dogs do to visitors when unfamiliar people enter our houses.. so no harm. but yea, do watch out once it starts pouncing and making low growl tones. hope this helps :)

I've got the same situation just with a 2 yr old boxer and an 11 month cat. They've been together now for around 3 months and the boxer still chases the cat and nudges him with her nose. They sleep together at night though with no problems. The cat's got a hold of her nose a few times but the dog has never got violent just curious as to what her brother is up to. I wouldn't put too much thought into. If they make it through the first couple weeks and you're dog hasn't attacked it you should be good.

rule of thumb if the cat is still alive then the chances are the dog is just playing. if the dog wanted to attack the cat the chances are the cat would be dead by now.
if the dog has it's claws out and it's jaw open salivating what the cat would taste like then it is attacking or atleast thinking about attacking the cat.
as for the cat scratching the dogs nose that is self defense and nothing to worry about.
one person said without video evidence no body can answer with 100% accuracy and that person is correct. we can't, all we can do is give common sense answers.
and no i don't keep pets of any description as i feel the best place for a wild animal cats and dogs included is living in there natural habitat and that does not mean a centraly heated modern home. again just my opinion.

The doberman is probably saying to the cat I am boss. This probably needs to be stopped. Make sure that the cat has somewhere she can go to get away from the dog, a scratch pole with a box in it should work because the cat can defend herself from the dog and the dog cant hurt the cat as easily. check these sites for more help:

The puppy is playing and learning boundaries. The cat is teaching boundaries. If the cat has an escape, for instance it can jump up away from the dog or retreat into a crate too small for the dog, than I wouldn't worry about it. However, until they settle down and get used to each other I wouldn't leave them alone together. Hope this helps.

Sounds to me like the dog is still a puppy and wants to play....the cat, being the more intelligent of the two species, knows it is not a dog toy.
The cat is trying to "train" your dog about the difference by scratching back.
Much like a man, your dog isn't very bright either; but EVENTUALLY he will get the message that NO means NO, and will stop trying to play with the pvssy when the pvssy doesn't want to be played with....

I'm guessing hes just playing, he is still only a puppy and wants to be kept amused. The cat running around him would get him excited to thinikng that he had a playmate, and he probably doesn't realise his size or strength. keep an eye though because Your cat might not think its a game and they could end up unintentionally hurting each other.

CAts and Dogs hav different behaviour patterns which can be confusing to each other ie if a cat wags his tail he is angry and a dog would be happy
I would supervise them when together and do not leave them alone. Just in case. I hav always had cats and dogs they learn to give each other space.

We tend to think of dog training as a series of steps for teaching particular behaviors. To teach a dog to stay in a particular position, you reward her as she remains in place for gradually longer times, at gradually greater distances, with gradually increasing degrees of distraction. Now, this is fine, training does involve teaching dogs specific behaviors with a step-by-step approach. This week, though, I’m going to discuss three mental habits that will not only enable you train more effectively but also make life pleasant for both you and your dog.

end with the water bottle! it is for practise a cat no longer a kitten. you have a toddler, 10 weeks is two a million/2 months previous. it is doing precisely what kittens do at that age, play stressful, sleep stressful, consume plenty. end enjoying extremely stressful with him. Do it for awhile yet then you definately would desire to sluggish it down and do calm issues. he's getting over inspired merely like a 2 3 hundred and sixty 5 days previous baby gets overstimulated and can't sleep while it extremely needs to. you're able to desire to be socializing it so as that it learns to be calm. initiate engaged on that top after meal circumstances while it is abdomen is finished and it feels sleepy. carry it, puppy it, confer with it, brush it, paintings on fidgeting with its ft to instruct it to get used to foot dealing with for trimming claws, calm play. All kittens attack. mom could be coaching it a thank you to seek, stalk and attack. It would not have mom so it is gaining awareness of via itself and you hands and ft (particularly below the blankets on a mattress!) boost into prey. If it bites you could very very gently(!) use you index finger and ever so easy flick the top of its nostril and say no! softly yet firmly. All kittens attempt to climb legs. it is all very common kitten behaviors, they're adverse behaviors frequently yet that's what you get once you have a kitten and you're able to desire to stay by way of it. while he will become neutered, the extremely some aggression could subside yet keep in mind it is a kitten doing what kittens do. it would desire to take as long as 4 to 6 weeks for the testosterone nevertheless interior the kitten's equipment to positioned on out so do no longer assume instant calmness after a neuter. while it is going to become approximately 10 months previous you ought to use the water bottle practise technique yet you utilize it for one merchandise in uncomplicated terms no longer each and every thing you dislike. it is not a punishment, it is a practise gadget so which you paintings on one habit and completed properly it is going to likely be experienced interior of two weeks till you have a cat who loves water. then you definately positioned pennies in a small can, tape it up and toss the can close by so it rattles. via the way, the bottle of water would desire to be in a circulate no longer a mist spray. stable success!
