For some reason she will not stop "going" in my house!!!!
I take her out, and when its nice, she stays out for a little while, then, as soon as i let her in the house, she goes and pees or poos in my house!! I have caught her when she is doing it, tell her NO, and put her outside, it doesn't work.
We have been at this since I got her 4 months ago.
She is kennel trained at night, but i cant leave her locked up all day! She will go when she is outside, then comes in and goes inside again!

PLEASE please help....
can anyone give me some pointers on this????
I am doing everything I know to do, I watch her, she seems to wait 'til i look away, or something to go do it.

my appartment is small, and i don't have a lot of room, or i would keep her in the kitchen or something, but its not really possible to close it off.

I REALLY need help, or I am going to have to give her up. I cant have her ruining the carpet in the appartment!

wait till she drinks, wait half hour and take her outside. make her stay out until she goes, and when she goes make a HUGE deal out of it saying good girl good girl!!! and give her treats. after a while she should get it. sprinkle baking soda on the spots where she has gone on the carpet to get her scent out (vineger will also work)

hope that helps.

If you are free feeding her, stop. Just feed her three times a day. Put her food down for about 15 to 20 minutes then pick it back up again. When she is done, take her outside within the following 15 minutes and wait until she goes potty. Make a really big deal when she goes outside. Make her think that it was the greatest thing in the world! The bigger deal you make it the better!!! Monitor her water intake. When she drinks her water, do the exact same thing. You might even want to consider giving her a very small "training" treat when she goes. Expect her to go more than once each time she is out.

One of the major traits in the Shih Tzu breed is that they want to please their masters. Once she knows that going potty outside makes you happy, she will try to do it again and again.

I live in an apartment also. I set pretty strict times for her to go to the "potty" when we first moved in.
For instance, she goes out with me every morning at 6:30am rain or shine and goes pee, poo, and pee. She comes in and eats her breakfast and then gets taken out once again at 9am where she again goes pee, poo, and pee. We give her treats each time she does all 3 when we bring her in.
At 5:30pm when I get home from work, she goes potty again.
She then receives dinner around 6:30pm and the last time she will go will be at midnight.

The schedule works great for her and she doesn't have accidents at all, anymore.

The one other thing that I do is make sure that if I've left her alone for a while and am just walking back in to not touch her until I get her to a kitchen or bathroom, just in case she is so excited and has an accident. She hasn't had one in a long time but it has now become a habit and she will directly walk towards the bathroom when I walk in to be petted.

Belly bands are the best for training. I have one for my Shih Tsu and he has no problems now.

Our belly band is made of soft mini-corduroy with an absorbent lining and secure velcro-closure. It will comfortably wrap around your male dog’s waist and catch any pee accidents before they become stains!

Aids in housetraining by making sure you are not missing any pee accidents while preventing your dog from marking. Many dogs are uncomfortable urinating in the band and this can be an extra help.

Makes your dog a more welcome visitor and easier to clean up after.

Dogs tend to tolerate it very well (don’t seem to notice it much). If your dog is able to scrunch it down or get it off, try putting it on with the overlap on the underside of the dog.

Add a incontinence or sanitary pad to increase the band’s capacity.

Attractive dark green color. 4"-6" wide.

Machine wash in the gentle cycle (cold water) and line dry - do not use a dryer.

Measure your dog loosely around his waist and over his penis. Please measure carefully as we cannot take returns on this item due to sanitary reasons.

Consider ordering more than one so that you always have one on hand while the other is being washed

You need to crate train properly. She needs to be in the crate when you are sleeping, not home or not able to watch her. When you take her out of the crate take her out immediately. Take her out within 15 minutes of eating. When she is out of the crate watch her carefully. If she shows signs of going, take her outside immediately tell her "potty outside" stay with her outside until she goes then praise. If she goes in the house and you do not witness it then there is nothing you can do. Always correct her with a firm (non yelling) voice, never hit the dog or rub her nose in her mess.

hmm have you tried clicker training?

click and treat (better to give toys than treats) after she goes outside. When she goes inside say NO and make sure she stops. Clean the mess with a non ammonia cleaner (best from the petstore)

eventually she will learn to go all the way outside
