Petsmart sells a product called Linatone. It helps with dry skin and dander. It also reduces shedding. My current puppy is non-shedding but I have always used it for my dogs and it really helps. Also a daily brushing helps.

A proper diet can drastically improve the amount of dander and fur your dog sheds.

Look at the current diet you're feeding your dog. Is there corn, soy, wheat, or by-products (or all) included in the ingredients list? If so, it may explain why your dog sheds, seemingly, excessively. While many people simply think 'oh, dogs just shed'...they haven't encountered the differences a proper diet makes when it comes to shedding.

Biologically speaking, dogs like yours are going to shed a lot---they have a thick undercoat meant to protect them from the elements, but daily brushing helps (especially brushing with a brush that will remove the dead hairs in the undercoat) and so will improving the diet. Feed a high quality food like Blue Buffalo, Innova, Timberwolf Organics, Chicken Soup, ect.

You'd be surprised at how much a good food will affect the amount your dog sheds (and goes to the bathroom!).

There is a grooming tool you can get at PetSmart. It's a razor/comb kind of thing that combs out all the loose undercoat. I've seen this particular item advertised on TV, bu when I saw it at the Pet store, being used by a groomer, I was sold. It comes in 3 different sizes and works for both cats and dogs.

LOL--I have three cats, and I groom them once a week. I've pulled so much hair off each of them, I swear if I had a loom, I could knit me a whole other cat!

They also have an additive you can put in their food. It keeps their skin from getting dry and loosing as much hair..

I love Shebas!! With a double coat you need to groom him regularly. Brushing every other day with help with loose fur as well as create a bond between you two.

I would suggest buying a steel pin brush, shedding blade, and undercoat rake. Look into the different grooming supplies available and ask an employee to help you.

There are shedding treatments such as the Furminator Shedless Treatment, which help reduce shedding tremendously. It is best done at a grooming shop since most people don't own power bathing systems or high velocity force dryers. If you want to do something at home, bath your dog using a rubber brush to lossen the undercoat. Then after he/she is dry, use an undercoat rake, shedding blade or stripping stone to remove any dead hair.

Brush them until no hair comes out... keep up with the brushing and remember that dogs shed more when the air warms up a little

Buy a Shed-Ender, and find time to brush your dog with it every few days. There are also different shampoos you can get for shedding problems.

Use a vacuum cleaner with a grooming attachment. It worked on my mom's dogs.
