What is it going to take for dog owners to start picking up after their dogs? They constantly harp on about it being just the minority of dog owners but we all know that this cannot be the case purely on the amount of dog foul that is left.
Please dont reply and tell me how YOU always pick up after your dog, because this post is not directed at you. What i want to know is, as dog owners yourselves, what do you feel we need to do to give our children a safe/clean environment and to stop these idiots from ruining your reputation as responsible dog owners?

I followed a PROFESSIONAL dog walker round for 30 minutes after she let 7 dogs out of her van with no leads...they all crapped...she didn't pick any of it up. I kept asking her if she had ever tried washing dog dirt out of a 2 year old girls hair...was she aware that I had to throw out 2 pairs of shoes that couldn't be cleaned because of my kids standing in dog poo in the park...asked her if she had ever bought freezer bags...did she know that the bacteria in dog dirt could cause blindness. She never said a word. I took her van number and her dog walking service name. Reported her....and told her I'd done it.

Before I got a dog this was always my concern too, there is so much dog muck around why aren't the owners picking it up? Some said it was because their dogs muck was too big! Well if that's the case why not get a smaller dog? or carry bigger bags? Simply I think people don't care it's not in their garden so why worry? They don't think of the poor kids who play in the parks and fields. The only way I think this could be stopped is if there were wardens on patrol in these places fining them when they don't pick up the poop. But how feesable is this? Or a place that is only for dogs, but I don't really fancy walking through a field full of poop when I walk my dog. As a responsible owner I always have bags at the ready because I have young children and it concerns me how much poop is around. I will not be someone who does not clean up after my dog. That's just my view anyway

You cant blame the dog for fouling, its just nature. Its the responsibility of the owner to be taking proper care of their dog. I live on the Isle of Wight, which is mostly countryside and protected parks and I walk my dog in these places and respect the fact that I have to clean up after my dog. I dont understand why dog owners do not pick up after them. At the end of the day nobody enjoys treading in poo! So from a responsible dog owner to other owners 'Please pick up your dogs mess, you are giving the good dog owners a bad name!!'

More Garbage cans or hire cleanup people to do it, create more jobs and solve the problem.... ignorant people will keep doing what they want when nobody is around. If you want something done right you have to do it yourself!

PS you said you didnt want to hear about how other people pick up after thier dog..... so I will tell you that I dont, not because I dont want to or I am lazy... I live in a small town and I ONLY walk my dogs in the bush(forest) so no one ever sees their poo and no children play where I walk my dogs, in fact I see more fox, deer, raccoon and bear crap around and in my town than dog poop. If I have to walk through the town in residential areas then I do pick up the poo but my dogs arent allowed in other peoples yards anyway. Where I live the bigger problem is people not keeping their dogs fenced in or tied so that they run out at everyone walking by and come crap in other peoples yards.

PSS if you have never seen Black bear crap well I will tell you it is much worse than dog poop, it can be the size of a popcan in circumference and could fill a full size dinner plate... Id like to see someone try to pick that up..LOL

Hi happy new year to you, I completely agree and also very frustrated when i take my dogs for a walk and have to avoid other peoples mess. My dogs always do their main in our back garden, and we collect and dispose. Shame all did not do same.I know that would be impossible but i would like to add that when you have men and women that think its OK to relive themselves in public/streets then how could we ever train the likes to be responsible dog owners. Maybe all pets should only be given to responsible people or visited by an officer to help combat the problem.

I think that by Law, your dog should be registered with a vet! The vet would then have a national DNA database for all dogs and cats to be included!

We should have Traffic Wardens and SCO's, Council Rangers carry testing kits! These would then in turn be checked against the database if the need arose!

There then would be a fine issued in the post! the fine would need paying! It would teach a few lessons!

If it is good for human tracking, then i'm pretty sure DNA evidence against dog owners is just as legitimate!

And it would be a useful job for the Parking Wardens, as dog foul is far more discusting than a car overstaying by 5 minutes!

Good Question! Thanks!

Peace!

There needs to be some positive action taken by local authorities to prosecute dog owners who disobey the law.

The fact is we care more about dogs in this country than we do about children. The tragic news from Liverpool today is further proof of that!

I actually work in a building that is situated in a public park. The park is known locally as the dogs toilet and is notorious because selfish dog owners blatantly ignore the law and swear at anyone who challenges them. Years of complaint to the council resulted in the council building an enclosure for children to play in. This effectively turned over the rest of the park for dog fouling.

I have little patience with anybody who owns dogs. I don't care how responsible they claim to be....I think they are just selfish and ignorant.

I do pick up ALWAYS and I know you don't want to know that.....what I am writing about is something that I find incredible. I have, on many occasions been in the park and seen dog owners with very small toddlers and even babies letting their dogs crap everywhere and not picking it up....I mean, we all know the illnesses that dog do can cause a child....unbelievable! And their kids are running and falling all over the grass.

Some dog owner from where I live started a bit of artistic frenzy, when on the night before Christmas Eve, he allowed his pet, to poo on the corner of my street.
The next morning someone in this quiet neighbourhood placed a twig in the middle of the pile.An hour later another art lover ,added a piece of tinsel. Then the poo was adorned with a liberal sprinkling of glitter (quite a nice shade of blue ! )
On Christmas morning ,much to the delight of the whole neighbourhood , a sweetie rapped in foil. Never has a doggy do do brought so much joy to the children during this festive season ! .......And the bells rang out in celebration.....
I do not have a dog ...I am a cat owner...and they always bury their do do`s.

No - nowhere interior the section controlled via the community council's byelaws, not even on grass verges, not even exterior of 30mph components. assessment this occasion with the pony worldwide. they're meant to journey their horses on roads and bridle paths, not on pavements. additionally they are not allowed to mount or dismount immediately on the line. even inspite of the shown fact that there isn't any law to end them 'fouling' the two the line or a pavement, nor to lead them to end and %. it up, or come back for it. it somewhat is a sort of circumstances the place they have been given 'Grandfathered-in' to widespread street rules. doubtless many a motorbike proprietor and motorcyslist has come off on a nook or while battling the place there is horse dung. i assume it somewhat is something do do with horse dung being considered as effective manure and not nasty greasy muck with infectious parasites that comes from carnivores.
