If a dog is drinking more than usual this could be a sign of an infection, or kidney problem.
If he is weeing in front of you it sounds like he could have a urinary tract infection that would need antibiotics to clear up.
In any case i would take him to a vet to get him checked out, at least that way it will also put your mind at rest.
It could just be old age as dogs can start to lose control of there bladders as they age but if it has came on suddenly it sounds like an infection and this should be treated as soon as possible.
Good luck and I hope that a simple course of antibiotics does the trick.

Things like diabetes and bladder infections are common in older dogs. If your dog has an infection it may be painful for him to wee so he is putting it off until the very last minute, he may not even be aware that he is weeing until it's too late.
Seek advice from your vet, this could be a problem that is easily solved by some antibiotics. good luck! hope he's better soon!

increased water consumption and increased urination or accidents can be a sign of several older dog diseases such as kidney disease or infection. I would recommend seeing your vet for a urinalysis and a blood panel to rule out any medical problems first. Many of these older dog problems can be helped a great deal with early intervention like a special diet or medication.
If the vet doesn't find anything it may be behavioral related to old age or senility but I would bet it's a medical issue.

He is getting older and could be a little senile but also there is a possibility of diabetes. I'd take him to the vet for a check up, There could be lots of reasons for this from something simple to something serious or to just age, the vet will let you know. Hope he gets better.

11 years old is NOT old for a breed which can live up to 19 year. Why haven't you taken this dog to the vet to get checked out as it sounds to me like he had a bladder or kidney infection aswell as uncaring and unintelligent owners. A course of antibiotics would take care of the infection but there is nothing to be done about the other problem.

I'm sorry about your friend...remember he is 84 years old now, and he may be losing his bladder control just as humnas do. You should take him to the vets though for a checkup, because he could have a bladder infection or something treatable. He is probably troubled by this too, because he knows it's not OK for him to do and perhaps cant control it.
Where is the dog wisperer when ya need him :-) ??
i hope he gets better...

My, he's getting to be an old little boy isn't he? When my dog passed on, he refused his food and water. What it sounds like to me is that your dog has a urinary problem. Some dogs get those types of problems at an older age. Our dog did that as well, but he was very sick when he passed. Take your dog to the vet, and have it checked out.
Best of Luck!

It could be just because he's old, but drinking a lot more water can be indicative of diabetes, so you might want to take him to the vets'.
All the best

yes I agree Poor old pooch is old and like us things do go downhill
Just in case of diabetes make sure his diet is sugar free until you see the vet and DONT feed him our chocolate because that can attack all his organs. Sorry but its the vet. I hope its a simple answer
