I have a two year old pug and he has vomited 6 times in the past two hours. Theres no food in it, its just a yellow frothy consistency (sorry if I just grossed you out) He didnt want to eat his breakfast this morning and he hasnt eaten anything unusual or any human food at all. I'm not sure what I should do. I can call the vet tommorow if it keeps happening but I'd rather not call today unless its an emergency. Any suggestions on what I should do?

First of all, the yellow stuff that he vomits is bile, it means he has "dry heaves" and his body is trying desperately to rid itself of a foreign body.
Second: with a dog so young, I would call the vet now. Think of it this way: You would call the doctor if your 6 month old BABY vomited that many times in so short a span right?
third: He could just have an upset tummy. OR he could have swallowed something poisonous, something sharp, have a twisted intestine that is causing his digestive tract to back up, he could have something stuck in his esophogus, etc.

Do not take chances with puppies. Remove all food and water from him, let him lie down in a crate or large box if you have one. Call the vet. Take a sample of vomit with you if you can.

Remember, our canine friends can't speak up and tell you they ate something funny or tell you where it hurts.

Good Luck, hope he feels better.

If my dog were vomiting for 2 hours I would certainly consider that an emergency and call a vet!
You can't put a price on your pet(if you really love him/her)by not calling the vet because they are closed.Just call the after hours number.

**I just found one of your answers in another section so maybe you need to take your own advice about your own dog:

Quote from you,
"Anytime your dog has a convulsion you need to call the vet asap. She could be having seizures. It doesn't seem like spoiled meat would cause this, its seems like something more serious. There has got to be an emergency clinic open today. Or most vets have an emergency number which pages the doctor at home. You may have to pay more money for the visit but its worth it if it saves your dogs life".

That's a lot of vomiting in a fairly short amount of time. Call the vet. I know with my vet, even if we page him for an emergency, will often listen to the symptoms and give us advice first before we try bringing the animal in. They don't really want to have to come into the office either unless it's an emergency.

Are your dogs shots all up to date? Distemper can often cause lots of vomiting. I'm concerned because you have a little dog and it will get dehydrated really fast.

It's an emergency: 6 times in 2 hours is BAD. He might have eaten something poisonous yesterday or some time late in the night.

Good luck!

This is bad. You can call the vet and talk to them and they will tell you either to bring your dog in or steps you can take to address this problem if it's not an emergency. You can even call and ER vet and talk to them and they can help you out. Good Luck
