Its perfectly safe to wash or bathe a pup when the Mum has finished weaning. This is usually at around 4 weeks.
At 6 weeks some dog shows allow them to compete and of course they have to be groomed and rid of the litter smells for that. I don't think its good to let pup mix with other dogs and pups outside its family until it has been vaccinated at 12 weeks.
Its good to get a pup used to having a bath as soon a possible, likewise getting used to being walked on a lead, just around the yard at this stage.
Regarding bathing puppy, like any baby or toddler you need to be very gentle.
Use a baby shampoo or if you want, one specially prepared for puppies.
Not a highly perfumed one with lots of chemical additives.
Its a good idea to put a non skid mat in the bath so it won't get to frightened,if he/she struggles. Its a new sensation and like children they can make you feel awful.Talk reassuringly all through it.
Make the procedure as quick as possible and totally towel dry puppy. As as this stage they can catch chills just like human babies left wet.
Have a play with puppy after its over.
But,don't let the pup learn the tug the towel game! When it gets stronger teeth and bigger it will still want to do it, and you will have shredded towels.
Have fun and enjoy your new family member.
Leave puppy indoors for a while, if he/she gets outside they immediately look for the dirtiest place to go and roll in and you will have to begin again!

Soon as their eyes are open but don't get water in their ears or nose!!

Put a little water in the tub or sink, then pour over the dog with a cup, washing down his body. Use baby shampoo or puppy shampoo.

Keep him warm after you really, really towel dry him. Perhaps a light near his kennel to warm him.

on a puppy 8 weeks or younger you can use johnson and johnson baby shampoo, be careful not to let water get in your puppys ears. if there are fleas allow the baby shampoo for a good 5 to 10 mins, it will suffocate the fleas. make sure your bathing area is good and warm so the puppy is not cold. after 8 weeks you can wash your puppy in in puppy shampoo. if you have any other questions you can call a local groomer or vet and they will answer any other question you might have

depends on what you're washing them in. most puppy shampoo's the one's that are much like baby shampoo can be used as early as 6 weeks. but i have even used it on puppies as young as 2 weeks when i was bottle feeding them, and you don't realize how much cleaning mom does until you have 5 pups all over one another. don't bathe them too often, once a month is a good rule, because it can cause dry skin issues.

Atleast 6 weeks old. The earlier the better so they learn that they won't get hurt. And they will stop being scared of the water. But do not bath them more then once a month.

You should probably wait until the puppy is weaned.....any time after that.
Just make sure you keep it warm and dry after wards.
