Our cat was a stray and we had her fixed and she was strictly an outdoor cat. Now we've had her for 4 years and she's almost entirely an indoor cat. We don't have a litter box inside though so at night we put her in the basement which has a litter box, food, water, heater, and all her toys. Every time I go to put her up for the night she trys to attack me and growls but during the day she's very quiet. Why is this happening and how can I fix it?

Dogs range in size from the tiny lapdogs to the huge Great Dane, but all domestic cats are generally the same size, ie. about 14 inches tall.

Why is this? And if you think it is down to genetics, then why is the opposite true in the wild, where all dogs (dingo, hyena, fox) are essentially the same size, but the cats (lion, tiger, leopard, lynx, ocelot, etc) vary greatly?

In addition, what would be the impact if domestic cats were the size of big dogs? Would we be allowed to keep them as pets?

She just tears into it really hard. Like she's trying to scratch everything out of her. She'll walk up to something, stick her claws into and drag her paws all the way down something. She doesn't kneed too much. She kills furniture, teddy bears, carpet, cement, anything. Is there anything weird or wrong with the way she's clawing. I have raised cats to kittens and i have never seen anything like this before. I tried asking a vet but he was too busy to talk to me. Why isn't she usually scratching like a normal cat??

My christmas present had no problem using the litter box for the first day. Since then he has refused to use the litter box. It is very similar to the one he used before and he is eating purina kitten chow. I'm not sure what to do with him. I've shown him the litter box several times but he continues to go to the bathroom wherever he wants, even on people. The kitten is six weeks old and I don't think he's old enough to have any type of medicine that will prevent runs. Any suggestions?

Has been fighting again I think, he is limping very slightly, only after hes been lying down a while, it goes off once he gets going, and there is what looks like a bite mark on his butt, and as usual when hes lost a fight hes a bit depressed, hes got no broken claws, so I think hes just strained himself getting away from a punch up, I dont think there is any abcess, as hes eating and washing and looks alert, what I want to know is, what clues should I look for that things are nastier than they look, I cant afford to take him to the vet if all hes got is a bruised ego and a bit of a strain, but if hes really sick I will do it, but what signs should I look for?
thanks, oh hes 13, and far to old for fighting!

My family just got a new 8 week old kitten, and we currently have three dogs. 2 of our dogs couldnt care less about the kitten, but one is obsessed with her. She is a 2 year old female lab, and she is acting like the kitten is her baby. she drools constantly now, licks the kitten constantly, and watches our kitten constantly. she has never tried to bit her, but if the kitten is sleeping she will nudge her with her nose. Our dog is ruining our house, because she runs and paces back and forwardth, and cannot settle down anymore, she always has to be watching the kitten. she wont even eat, how do we get her to calm down and return to normal? also, she has had other behavioral changes since the kitten like attacking our horses and other dog, please help!

thank you

My cat I think is having seperation anxiety or something. He gets very territorial whne I leave he will run to the door and jump up on his hind paws and stick his front paws in the air as if he is trying to block me from leaving. Sometimes he even swipes at my feet, his claws aren't extended but he just doesn't want me to leave and he gets all sad and cries by the door. Is there anything I can do to soothe him before I leave?
