Whoever said your kitten will die of childbirth has never owned a kitten.

If your kitten is sexually mature (over 6 months old) she may very well be pregnant, which means that her body can handle it. If she is any younger than nature would not allow her to have babies.

Your kitten could just be fat or have worms (which would need to be treated immediately.) I'd take her to the vet before the move to ensure that she'll be comfortable and able to explore her new home! Good Luck!

Here are some ideas to help identify if a female cat is pregnant.

Steps
Check to see if her nipples are larger.

Feel her tummy to see if you feel a sort of swelling and small lumps the size of walnuts.

When a cat becomes pregnant, her demeanor may change. Pregnant cats become very affectionate. Most cats start to really love their tummies massaged when pregnant.

Stand back and look at your cat's overall shape. From the side, pregnant cats frequently look a little swayback with a slightly distended tummy. From the top looking down at the cat, a pregnant cat's tummy is frequently distended slightly more than halfway from the neck to the tail. This look has been compared to the posture of a burro. If your cat's profile has changed from normal to burro, she might be pregnant.

To distinguish pregnant from fat: fat cats are fat all over, including the neck, the legs. etc. Pregnant cats are not. However, keep in mind that fat cats can be pregnant too!
When a pregnant cat gets close to delivering her kittens, she may start nesting -- arranging blankets, towels, straw, whatever, into a secure place to have her babies.

Tips
While the "burro" look is a good indicator that a female cat is pregnant, this is not always accurate. There are medical conditions that can cause a cat to retain fluid in her abdomen, which could make a cat look distended in the middle and swayback.

hope this helps!

She needs to be taken to the vet asap. If she's not fat and is not pregnant she could have a worse medical condition (maybe a tumor).I had a cat as young as 9 months old get pregnant. They younger they are the less kittens they'll give birth too, in general. If she's pregnant you can still care for her (I HIGHLY recommend getting a book on how to care for an expectant cat mom, it really is the best way to do it) and give away her babies when they are past 10 weeks old.

Keep your cat inside and call a vet. it's important to control the pet population. Do you have a plan of action if the cat is pregnant? Call your local vet. They can feel her stomach for kittens and determine whether or not she is pregnant. You don't want to wait to find out.

If you had gotten your cat fixed like a responsible pet owner would have then you would not be asking this question. Any un-fixed cat should not be let outside!! They will come home pregnant! Has your cat been outside, how old is your cat? has she gone into her first heat?

If she's pregnant you should probably be able to feel the kittens inside of her.

Get her checked immediately because if she is still young and you are moving and she is pregnant she could die ether in childbirth or just die from being shaken to much.

Take your cat to the vet and they'll be able to tell you more.
