i honestly have always had more than one - presently i have my own petting zoo. i would say to get two - for the simple companionship that develops, they grow together and learn to entertain themselves in your absence and of course there is an incredible bond between them as a family that humans are unable to provide. where one lacks - the other normally will compensate and where one feels afraid (for whatever reason) the other will protect. i have experienced this and it is incredible to be a part of the world they create in our forced domesticated aspects. it would be too much more in costs but the benefits they will repay you will be TEN TIMES FOLD. so - save a couple of kittens that need your tender care - and enjoy!!!

I personally have always enjoyed having 1 cat at a time. They seem to get more attatched to their owner.

Having two cats is good if the cats get along, but in a lot of cases, they don't like eachother and don't prefer to be in the company or in the competition with another cat.

So my personal opinion is that 1 cat is better than multiples.

One cat is OK if you have the time to play with it and keep it from getting bored. If you get two cats, try to get two kittens from the same litter so they will be pals. I have two I found in a ditch and they are very close to me and each other. They play-fight sometimes, but nothing nasty. It just costs more for food, toys and vet bills for two cats. So far as litter box clean-up goes, every good thing has it's down side. Just grin, with a mask on, and bear it.

As someone who's had cats almost all my life, I can say that they are always happier if they have at least 1 cat friend and am surprised by how many people say differently. They have much more fun that way & they enjoy their relationships with their cat mates as much as they do with their people friends. If you work or don't have someone at your house all day, it's so much better to have 2, as they can keep each other company while you are gone. Many cats already have friends before they are adopted, and if possible, it would be kindest if you could offer 2 that are already mates a home so they don't have to be separated.

Cats are great pets. I think you should get two cats because how would you feel if you were the only human. You would want a companion. If you have one cat, he/she will get all the loving and he'll be laid back. If you get two cats, the might play some more, and you would have more fun. BUT if you have 2 cats you tend to like one more than the other. (UGH) If you get 2 cats, get a male and a female. But if you choose to get one cat, get a female. Unless your a roudy person, get a male, but when the hit puberty, they start to roam the neighborhood looking for mates. and leave you and don't care about you.

It's all personal opinion and based on the cats.

Cats don't need 'buddies'. They can be perfectly happy living with you as their buddy.

The disadvantage to having two cats is that it's twice as expensive, twice as much work, and they can get in trouble together.

If you want to have two cats, look for a couple that have been pair bonded and adopt them. I constantly see them come through rescue - usually by no fault of their own. http://www.petfinders.com

The advantage of having one cat is that you have time to devote your sole attention to that cat. The advantage of having two cats is that you can have a playmate for your cats if you are away for extended periods of time such as work.

It depends on the cat's personality. Some prefer a housemate but most cats are very territorial and want to be the ruler of the roost. So unless you want constant fighting over position or know your cat has a relaxed personality, go for one cat.

It depends on your lifestyle. Will the cat be alone all day while you are at work. If so I would get 2 cats. At the same time, if you get a cat flap so the cat has access to outside where it can hunt, socialise, and roam at it's own leisure, one cat might be able to amuse itself untill your return.

If you have two cats then they will be happier because they can play around. Also they can snuggle together to keep warm.(especially if there outside cats) But that will also run you up in money for all there food you will have to buy.But if you have one it will not cost you as much plus one cats enough if you give it enough attention. It really all depends on how much your willing to give them attention and how much money u want 2 spend on them.We have to outside cats and they were so happy together but 1 of the cats ran away and we can't find him and now the other cat seems really loney.
So i would prefer u to get to cats(especially if their2 going to be outside cats)But if there inside cats one would be fine. we also have one inside cat and shes as happy as could be.
