Ok, so Ive had a cat Sam for over 8 yrs now and he has Never peed or pooped anywhere but his litterpan before. Then one day he randomly starts pooing on the carpet. As if this wasnt bad enough a week or so later he started peeing everywhere too! He even went in a bed hes had since he was a kitten that he Loves. We havent changed anything in our house, and hes never had any problems with his litter pans or litter, and now that hes confined to our basement hes never done it again down there and he uses the litter pans just fine (we clean them daily). Were afraid to bring him back upstairs for fear that hell do it again. Weve cleaned all the areas in the house where he went, but the few times he comes upstairs he sniffs all around the areas. Putting plastic on the floor never helped as hed go right on the plastic. We really feel bad having to keep him confined to the basement... any suggestions? We know its not a medical problem because hes recently been to the vet and gotten checked out.

My kitten is about 8-9 weeks old and every time I open the front door to come inside, he's there trying to squeeze out or if I open it to leave, he comes running to get out. He hasn't had his shots yet and I only want him to be an indoor cat. Any suggestions???

Thanks in advance for any and all help.

My husband and I are first-time kitten owners, and yesterday our kitty began to sleep and/or sit in his litter box for no apparent reason. He has a clean, soft bed. He hasn't acted differently aside from this, but in the few months we've had him, this is definitely an odd behavior for him.

We read that sometimes this is a result of an UTI and other illnesses in cats but are unsure of what steps to take or what to look for. Called the vet and he said they could run some tests. Should we be concerned? We don't want to take any chances.

Also, his environment hasn't changed (no additional stress or anything).

Thanks again.

I have a 9 year old female cat that is positive for feline leukemia. In the last year+ she has had immune problems with display of hair loss, sores and bloating. Incontinence has become an issue and you can tell she is constantly miserable now.

I am trying to come to terms with euthanizing her. The cost here is prohibitive... $45 office visit + shot + disposal... and I have a problem with the trauma of not only transporting, but the whole cold, clinical approach.

Is there anything I can use at home that is humane? I would prefer to provide a quiet and loving atmosphere in which to end her suffering... Something effective, but painless and quick.

Any alternative to this approach is also appreciated. I have very little that I am able to spend, but if someone has had luck with changes in diet, antibiotics or other treatment, I am open to trying any suggestion over euthanization!

He is 10 years old, healthy otherwise, appetite undiminished, has been doing this for at least a year, antibiotics from vet not very effective. Now another cat is doing it.

Our cat dislikes canned cat foods, but loves canned tuna (people kind) we feed him this along with dry cat food. He will eat the dry but just picks at the wet kind. Is it safe to feed him the canned tuna every day since it's his favorite along with dry food? Someone told us you shouldn't feed too much tuna. He sometimes throws up on the canned cat foods, but never on eating the tuna...Thanks

She is an outside cat and she isn't doing very well. Her nose is so stuffed that she can barily breath or eat. Her balance is way off also. She has lost weight too.

Our cat is an old Persian and has arthritis which means she cannot clean from the base of her tail to about half way along. This grease we believe is generated by the cat normally and is cleaned off when she licks herself, but being as she cannot reach its built up. The question is how do we clean her tail, we do not want to take her to the vets as she is very old and very scared.
She apart from this is in fine health.
Regards
John

I just got a new kitty. He's 3-5 mos. old, and doing well. He's very high strung and energetic, which is to be expected of a young cat I suppose. But there is one thing he's doing that is hard to live with -- attacking our feet when they are under our blankets in bed.
I had a rude awakening the other night, and I don't wish to have that repeated! I've been closing the bedroom doors, but I don't want to do that forever. Is there something that works when it comes to disciplining cats? I use the word "No", for other things like biting, and it seems to be working. But it isn't working to save our poor feet.
I have heard of using a squirt bottle & giving them a shot each time they do something undesirable. Is that cruel?
I've never owned a cat before that I've had to raise myself, so any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you for all your answers!

I have had my cat for about 6 years, she is normally a very well trained loveable animal. She has recently taken to being very mischievoud and down right destructive while I am away from home. I will find things kicked off counters and shelves, her food bowl spilled everywhere. She likes to place things in the toilet (she knows how to open the lid). She has started picking at the rugs, something she has never done. She has chewed apart almost every house plant I own. This is completely out of character for her, I have not changed the hours I keep, there has been no change in routine for her, I would like some insight as to why she is being do difficult and what I can do to nip this in the bud.

male cat (unknown age, till recently a stray) has kidney problems- as the vet said-, his gums are also in terrible condition - i don'tt understand, they look "black".
Vet gave him medicine for one week treatment and after the week: either the treatment will save him or he will be put into sleep.

Is there anything else we can do for him?

Cat was recently picked up from the street by rescuers.

I had a canvas type couch that my precious little kitties (innocent looking gismo looking gremlins) shredded.

Is it true that cats do not claw through microfiber furniture? Anyone with experience? Thanks

My cat is about 2 years old, and used to be so gorgeous and hyper and all over the place. Since I got her fixed, she lays around and just eats, all day long. I had her on a diet until I moved in with my current roommate. I was feeding her one cup a day and she was doing well, loosing weight. But now my roommate's cats are 13 and 14 years old, and they're underweight. I can not find a way to limit her eating, and I can't put her on a weight control formula because of the other cats. Any ideas?

I have a one year old cat who I've raised since I found her and her brothers and sisters floating in the river out back. I kept her as my own. She is rather friendly and loves to be around other cats but dislikes humans. She became extreamly attached to me, and only me. I had to put down my old tabby-cat, who was about twenty-three (Same age as I) just a week ago. Since then, my cat seems to crave more attention than ever! As much as I love her, she becomes bothersome at times. And I was wondering, if I were to adopt another cat, would this help? She is very sociable with other cats and I don't believe she'd have a problem. But I only wish to bring another cat into my house if it'll stop her from constantly bugging me and wanting attention.
