A poisonous spider might make a cat sick, otherwise it's just a protien snack. My cats will eat a spider and I never even think about it, it's just gross.

A cat can eat any kind of bug or spider and it will just be a healthy, protein filled snack. Most any kind of poisonious spider will be digested without any problem. The acids in the stomach of most mammals are strong enough to neutralize just about any spider venom. Once again, though, it does depend on where you live as to exactly what type of spider you're talking about. I would say there is very little to worry about though. Cats eat anything that small that moves. Yours isn't the first.

My cat eats spiders and bugs a lot. It depends on the kind of spider and how poisonous the spider is. I mean, when we go to bed, we eat about 8 spiders a year, right? And we are still here!

I saw my cats eat spiders, mice, birds, all sort of green reptiles and every kind of insects. I tried to explain them that this is a disgusting food. They ignored my advise. Nevertheless, I must say that, in spite of such disgusting food, my cats are still alive. more then this: they are perfectly sound & happy.
So, what could I say? I think that eating a spider can be dangerous for a cat only if the spider is a Black Widow, I mean a poisoning-spider ...

That is one thought, but yeah go to your local pet store and they usually know what's around and let you know what kind of spider's to keep an eye out for, also most cat's will shy away from spider's.
