Take a towel and wrap his paws up and have a person hold him against them keeping a tight grip on the towel. Put the meds in and rub his ears so it gets in nicely. Then stand back and wait for the head shake. Afterwards, pet him and give him a treat. He will learn quickly that if he takes his meds, he gets a treat.
My cat has a chronic ear infection that requires daily medication in his ear. He knows when I get the medicine bottle that it's treat time. He tolerates the meds so he can have the treat now, and he'll come right to me to get them!

It is incredibly difficult to apply meds to a cat's ear--I know from experience. You have to treat the earmites with meds, otherwise they won't go away. The earmites are painful, so it's best to get rid of them. I found that pinning my cat on the ground on his side and holding his head down with one of my arms kept him still long enough to do one ear. He would run off after the one ear and I'd have to wait for a while to catch him and do the other side. Giving your cat a treat after you give it the meds may also help.

the mites will subside for a while but they'll be back in a couple of weeks. if u leave them like that then the mites can get pretty bad. ive seen cats with earmites so bad theyre in pain 247. the mites bite so they constantly itch their ears some cats end up with ear damage from itching it. this is worse case senario though. take my advice and just give the cat the meds. if its having an exeptionally bad day then take one day off. try again the next it makes no difference.

you really need to administer the medication. This is serious discomfort for your cat. You need to learn how to "scruff" the cat so you can put the meds in. Scruffing does not hurt the cat although they usually scream out of frustration. Just grab the excess skin on the back of the neck, much like how mama kitties carry the young around and ull tight enough that the cat surrenders to you. Then administer meds, rub ears for a few seconds to make sure that she/he doesnt shake it right back out and your done. If you seriously cannot do this then you need to take the cat into the vet every day and have them do it. The cat cannot be left with the mites.

Just try to treat him. Ear mites are extremely contagious to other cats or dogs. They will not go away if you dont treat them and your cat will continue to scratch its ears and can cause them a lot more problems in the long run and could require more ear meds if it gets worse. So get a friend to help hold. Cats are fighters when it comes to putting stuff in their ears. The best thing to do is to wrap the cat in a towel and make a "cat burrito" so the cats feet are in the towel and its head will be out so you can put the meds in the ear and somewhat proctect yourself from the feet. You will probably need someone to hold the cat and someone to put the meds in. Good luck

Your cat will become very miserable. I had to give my cat an antibiotic. with two of us holding him down we still couldnt get it in him! I called the Vet and they said to wrap him very tightly ina towel and one hold while the other gives meds. It worked!
The biggest issues if you don't treat the ear mites is #1 your cat not being comfortable #2 If you have any other animals in the hosue this could be a problem! Additionally, the mites are easily spread to other pets within the household including cats, dogs, rabbits, hamsters, gerbils, mice, ferrets, etc. Humans are not affected. #3 Ear mites are very common, but still serious. Left untreated, they severely damage the ear canals and eardrum and can cause permanent hearing loss. #4 Ear mites can also spread to different parts of the body!!! You do NOT want this to happen!

Keeping Up with Your Cat's Hygiene
Healthy Ears
Good ear care is one of the most overlooked areas of cat care, but it is important to your cat's health. Weekly ear checks and cleaning when necessary will prevent common problems like ear mites, allergies, and bacterial, fungal, and yeast infections from taking hold.
Most cats tolerate ear cleanings if you make them part of the regular grooming routine. Try to keep the experience positive, and reward cooperation with a small treat.
To see into the ear, hold the tip between your thumb and forefinger and gently roll it outward to reveal the inner part of the ear. Check for signs of trouble. A small amount of light brown wax is normal, but excessive discharge (especially black, red, or green-yellow) or redness indicates a problem. If the ear appears healthy, gently wipe the inside with a pad soaked in ear cleanser, which is available from your vet or pet supply store. Never insert a Q-tip or anything else into the ear canal—you could cause serious, permanent damage. I hope this helps :)

Earmites is a bacterial yeast infection, that if not treated will most likely spread to the cats brain and kill it. You need to give him the medicine as soon as possible. If you cant give it the medicine you need to see a veterinarian to have him put the medicine in its ear right away.

The earmites will continue to thrive and your cat will be miserable. Would you like a family of parasites living in your ear? Wrap your cat in a towel so he can't move and hold him firmly. I know it will be difficult. Have someone else medicate the ears. If you are also giving him pills, use the same technique. Have the 2nd person pry open his mouth. Throw the pill FAR down his throat and rub his throat until he swallows it. He will be angry, but he will feel better. He'll get over the anger.
"Ear mites can often be overlooked or dismissed as simply dirty ears. That's what I thought... these kittens have the dirtiest ears that I have ever seen. Ear mites can show up as a brown build up on the inside of cats ears. The cat often will spend a lot of time shaking their head or scratching their ears. Ear mites can dangerous and cause other problems if not treated. I have read stories of rescued cats have such serious eat mites infection that they have had to have their ear amputated. I have a cyper-friend whose lynx had a mild case of ear mites that went undetected. She developed a hematoma (clotted blood that builds up as a result of a broken blood vessel) in her ear and had to have surgery on her ear.
Treatment is relatively simply for us, but we were already treating for fleas and ringworms which may have helped us out. My vet gave me ear drops to add to their ears twice a day for seven days. Stop for a week to allow the eggs to hatch, and then add ear drops twice a day for seven more days. The hardest part is convincing the kitties to sit still while you add the ear drops, especially, when they don't like to have their ears touched. They slung the medicine all over me many times in the beginning of their treatment, but we all made it. However, many of the articles I read say that it is just as important to treat the whole cat because the mites can hide on other parts of the body. If you think that your cat might have ear mites it is a good idea to see your vet as soon as possible."

Well first off you would be a bad owner for not treating a problem.
And secondly ear mites cause great discomfort for your cat not to mention that they can lead to deafness if not treated.
What do you mean it's too hard to give him the meds? That's no excuse. Figure out a way, get help, or have the vet do it. It is YOUR responsibility as a pet owner.
