When I got my kitten, my daughter (who was 30 and THOUGHT she spoke Spanish) decided that the kitten looked like a tiger. Since it was a female kitten, my daughter suggested the name...Tigra. (Supposedly, Spanish for a female tiger).

Well, there were a couple of problems with all this. Tigra isn't even a Spanish word, much less the word for a female tiger. The second problem was that the kitten turned out to be a boy. yeesh.

Still....his name is Tigra. :) (Pronounced: teegra) But usually I just call him FatBoy.....not that he's fat. He just has long hair and is a fairly big male. ;)

Good luck with your new kitten!!

We named our kitten "The Duke", or just Duke. Go to baby names.com and look under origins for your nationality. The German names were great and so were some of the Hawaiian ones. Very original stuff.

For a girl I like Robin a lot. Really depends on the breed. We had a white long hair that was named Charmin because she's white and soft! For boys we had Tiger for an orange Tabby. Spooky for a black cat. But those are more common names.
