Our cat dislikes canned cat foods, but loves canned tuna (people kind) we feed him this along with dry cat food. He will eat the dry but just picks at the wet kind. Is it safe to feed him the canned tuna every day since it's his favorite along with dry food? Someone told us you shouldn't feed too much tuna. He sometimes throws up on the canned cat foods, but never on eating the tuna...Thanks

My kitten (runt of the litter) loved tuna and outgrew his siblings. The reason he was a runt was his losing the fight for mama cat's milk. He out grew all of them, and when I took him back home he would not let them eat at the bowl until he was done. I gave him a 6oz. can of tuna a week, but he mostly munches on Purina nibbles. It's human tuna (Starkist) at $.39. It's cheaper than most canned cat food and I eat it in a pinch.

NO, isn't safe for ur cat to eat just tuna, is not a balanced meal, try to mix tuna with cat food, u also can try to mix tuna with others meals and try to reduce the amount of tuna in the mix every day,
I don't remember why, but the vet of my cats gave me the medical answer but I just can remember it, something about his bones, or arthritis, he ask me not to gave tuna to my cats more than twice a week

I would talk to your vet and try not to feed your cat too much tuna till you fid out from your vet. A little tuna once a day should be okay. I have done the same for my kitten when they were young and now they still get tuna from time to time. Good luck!

I give my cats a good dry food and whenever I have tuna I drain the liquid into their bowls for a treat. I wouldn't give your cat only canned tuna I'm sure it doesn't have all the nutrients the cat needs.

No. Tuna has way too much salt for a cat to process out through its kidneys. Additionally, tuna lacks the essential vitamins and minerals your cat needs to be healthy and live a long life.

The problem is the HIGH AMOUNT OF MERCURY in tuna fish. This can cause all kinds of nasty symptoms in cats. (also lack of Taurine & Vitamins)

But like anything the key is moderation. Say you're making yourself a tuna sandwich. It won't hurt to give your cat a tiny taste or a bit of it once in a while. Just don't make it a regular thing.

Feed him a good quality dry food with a little tuna mixed in. We did that for our Carlos, and he lived to be 17 years old.

Canned tuna for humans doesn't contain certain amino acids and proteins that cats need to survive. It's OK to give it to the cat as a treat, but don't depend upon it for his full meal. I used to give my cat about one fork-ful of canned tuna per day if they wanted it.

it's safe, but not enough nutrition. i would feed some tuna and back it up with Nutro dry food. Cats need a lot of fat in their diet - I would choose the tuna in oil and drain some of the oil.
